Position Purpose:

Description The IT Infrastructure Manager performs a variety of responsible and complex duties, providing leadership, strategic direction, consultation, analysis, coordination, and guidance for college information technology activities including the planning, analysis, design, installation, and maintenance of the technology infrastructure and network operations of the college. This position is responsible for overall infrastructure and networking architecture, design, operation, and support, as well as leading a talented team of specialists who implement and maintain the college’s computer systems, servers, classroom, lab, and network technologies. This position also leads the college’s information security operations. The position is part of a broader team to provide continual improvement in college operations and educational systems delivery and provides a lead role in the development or implementation of new systems. This position will supervise other positions. This position is exempt. This position reports to the Chief Information Officer (CIO). This position starts July 7th, 2025, or later. Examples of Duties Provide overall vision and leadership for the college on technology infrastructure and operations, ensuring that technology solutions meet the strategic initiatives. Develop technology roadmaps for critical technology infrastructure. Collaborate with the Chief Information Officer, administrators, faculty, and staff in setting priorities for the deployment of technology infrastructure to enable the college to achieve its objectives through the effective use of technology. Hold managerial responsibility for the following technical functions: network and telecommunications engineering and administration; technical support for instructional delivery; data storage and retrieval administration; and information security administration. Supervise, direct, guide, motivate, train, and evaluate information technology department staff engaged in implementing, configuring, and maintaining the technology infrastructure. Advise the Help Desk team, providing directions for desktop, network edge devices, and audio-visual systems as well as technology refresh plans. Evaluate, recommend, and implement technology infrastructure standards, processes, upgrade procedures, documentation, and maintenance activities. Oversee management and monitoring of all technology infrastructure facilities, including physical and cloud-based systems. Evaluate and design technology infrastructure solutions, including networks, servers, storage, cloud services, security, backup, and recovery; ensure new solutions integrate with existing networks and systems. Oversee large-scale technology infrastructure implementation projects, including design, implementation, integration, testing, troubleshooting, training, and final user acceptance. Monitor and maintain systems security measures and procedures, meeting all relevant compliance standards. Develop security standards and procedures, including incident response plans, and assure such standards and procedures are in practice. Collaborate on development of disaster recovery plans; implement, maintain, monitor, test, and verify backup and recovery systems. Explore innovations and trends in technology for institutional applicability; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in information technology and enterprise system application programs. 1 Manage vendor relationships including contract negotiation and compliance requirements; assist the purchasing department in the acquisition of information systems software and services. Performs other related duties as assigned. Other skills important to this position: Strong project management skills with effective results focused within an IT infrastructure environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Technical team leadership experience. Supervisory experience of programmer analyst(s) in the design and implementation of systems, integrations, and reporting. Willingness to work occasionally outside of normal business hours. Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities. Proven ability to be flexible and work hard, both independently and in a team environment, in a high-pressure on-call environment with changing priorities. Excellent English oral and written communication skills. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in information technology, engineering, or a related field. Or a combination of related experience and education with significant relevant work experience in higher education. A minimum of 5 years of relevant technical experience. Small team people management experience with a demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams through complex technical projects. Extensive knowledge of IT physical and cloud architecture, networking, audio/visual, and lab technology in a higher education environment.
