Position Summary:
The IT & Broadband Systems Manager leads thedesign, administration, and maintenance of networks, systems,software, and equipment that support high-quality electric andbroadband services. This role manages a team of IT and networkprofessionals, driving secure and efficient operations throughstrategic planning and continuous improvement.
KeyResponsibilities:
Technical Oversight:
Design, implement, andmaintain broadband and IT infrastructure, including passive opticalnetworks, Headend/Central Office (CO) equipment, and CustomerPremise Equipment (CPE). Monitor and troubleshoot networkperformance issues; resolve outages and ensure service reliabilitythrough proactive system alerts and analytics. Configure, secure,and manage virtual and physical systems, including backups,disaster recovery plans, and cybersecurity protocols. Oversee fiberoptic network design including point-to-point, ring, and diversepath routing; develop network diagrams and splicing plans. Conductsite surveys, installations, system tests, and maintenance tominimize downtime and ensure service quality.
Strategic &Operational Leadership:
Develop and execute long-term strategicplans for IT and broadband systems aligned with the Cooperative’smission and goals. Lead the Cooperative’s cybersecurity efforts bydesigning policies, risk mitigation strategies, and monitoringprograms. Research and evaluate new vendors and technologies toensure alignment with Cooperative needs and industry standards.
Plan and manage capital investments, budgets, and vendor contractsto ensure cost-effective solutions. Ensure compliance with NERCCIP, FCC, RUS, and other relevant industry regulations.
Team &Communication:
Supervise IT staff including Senior IT Specialistand Network Administrator; provide leadership, mentorship, andperformance oversight. Coordinate closely with executiveleadership, internal departments, members, vendors, and industrypartners to implement technology initiatives. Supportcross-functional teams with technical expertise and guidance toenhance member and internal user experiences. Promote a culture ofsafety, teamwork, professionalism, and adaptability.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
High School diploma orequivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in Computer InformationSystems or a related field preferred. Minimum of 4 years ofrelevant IT/network systems experience.
Technical Skills:
Strongknowledge of IP networking, VLANs, subnetting, routing, and fiberoptic technologies. Proficient with network design, provisioning,and monitoring tools. Familiarity with business continuity,disaster recovery, and cybersecurity best practices. Experiencewith enterprise and service provider environments, includingLayer-1 and Layer-2 networking.
Soft Skills:
Strong leadership,organizational, and communication skills. Ability to prioritizemultiple tasks, lead a team, and work under pressure. Collaborativemindset and a commitment to continuous improvement.
AdditionalRequirements:
Valid driver’s license. Willingness to traveloccasionally and work outside standard hours when necessary. Mustpass drug and alcohol screening per DOT and PPEC policy. Maintainconfidentiality and high ethical standards.
