This includes managing a team of NOC technicians, ensuring the performance and reliability of the network, and maintaining 24/7 operational excellence. The network is built on Calix Access Equipment, Juniper Core Equipment, Fujitsu Transport Equipment, and Accedian ONTs/NIDs, requiring deep technical expertise in these systems. The NOC Manager will lead efforts to monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize network performance while fostering a proactive and customer-focused culture. Key Responsibilities Operational Management Ensure the NOC operates 24/7/365 with appropriate staffing levels. Oversee network monitoring and incident management processes, ensuring rapid response to alerts and outages. Maintain comprehensive visibility across the network, utilizing tools and platforms for proactive monitoring of Calix, Juniper, Fujitsu, and Accedian systems. Drive continuous improvement of NOC workflows, processes, and tools. Technical Leadership Provide guidance on troubleshooting and resolving complex network issues, including access, transport, and core layers. Lead root cause analysis for major incidents and outages, ensuring permanent solutions are implemented. Collaborate with engineering teams to plan and execute network upgrades and changes, ensuring minimal disruption to services. Develop and maintain dashboards and metrics to monitor network performance. Team Leadership Manage and mentor a team of NOC technicians, fostering professional development and skill enhancement. Conduct performance reviews, set objectives, and ensure the team is meeting operational goals. Coordinate training sessions on Calix, Juniper, Fujitsu, and Accedian technologies to keep the team up to date with industry advancements. Promote a customer-centric mindset, ensuring all team members prioritize service reliability and customer satisfaction. Customer and Stakeholder Communication Act as the primary escalation point for critical incidents and outages, ensuring timely communication with internal and external stakeholders. Provide detailed incident reports, including impact analysis and mitigation plans, to management and customers as needed. Collaborate with sales and support teams to address customer concerns related to network performance. Compliance and Documentation Ensure all operations comply with industry standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements. Maintain detailed documentation for network configurations, procedures, and escalation protocols. Support audits and assessments related to network performance and security. Required Skills and Qualifications Technical Expertise Strong knowledge of fiber optic networks, including GPON and active Ethernet architectures.
Hands-on experience with:
o Calix Access Equipment (e.g., E7, GigaCenters). o Juniper Core Equipment (e.g., MX Series, EX/QFX switches). o Fujitsu Transport Equipment (1Finity Product Series) o Accedian ONTs/NIDs for performance monitoring and assurance. Proficiency with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., Solarwinds Orion, Calix Cloud, Juniper Junos, Accedian SkyLIGHT, Fujitsu Virtuora). Solid understanding of networking protocols and technologies, including VLANs, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, QoS, and IP routing. Leadership Skills Proven experience managing a 24/7 operational team in a high-pressure environment. Strong ability to prioritize and delegate tasks effectively. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to lead and motivate a diverse team. Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills Ability to identify trends and proactively address network issues before they escalate. Demonstrated capability to perform root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Certifications such as:
o Calix Certified Professional (CCP). o Juniper Networks Certification (JNCIA, JNCIS, or higher). o ITIL Foundation. 5+ years of experience in network operations, with at least 2 years in a managerial role. Familiarity with SD-WAN and network automation/scripting (Python, Ansible). Key Metrics for Success Network uptime and reliability. Mean Time to Detect (MTTD) and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) for incidents. Team performance and skill development metrics. Stakeholder satisfaction with NOC communication and resolution times. Work Environment This is a hybrid role requiring availability during critical incidents, which may include nights and weekends. The NOC Manager will work closely with engineering, support, and field operations teams.
