Franklin Park Zoo / Stone Zoo Essential Job Functions The IT Manager plays an integral role in leading the IT operations of Zoo New England’s (ZNE) Franklin Park Zoo and Stone Zoo. This position requires a solutions-focused individual who is organized, forward-thinking, collegial and detail-oriented. The IT Manager will manage the IT department and oversee network maintenance, troubleshooting, system migrations, software and hardware set-up, and technology support activities including, but not limited to, computers, monitors, firewalls, WAN, LAN, printers, scanners, telephones, mobile devices and peripherals, and other office technology. This role liaises between ZNE and external hardware/software vendors and consultants, and is responsible for the annual IT budget. The IT Manager will plan and facilitate basic computer training for ZNE employees on authorized ZNE software, attend meetings to facilitate the functions of the IT Department and institution’s needs, and provide reports as needed. Duties & Responsibilities Oversee performance of systems/network ensuring proper and appropriate usage/performance. Establish, plan and administer the overall policies and goals for the IT department. Responsible for overseeing all of ZNE’s software and hardware systems and applications. Oversee system updates, upgrades and backups. Oversee upgrading of ZNE’s software systems whenever necessary, including new updates to the servers and workstations, in order to ensure efficient running/operation of programs and databases. Ensure that the proper licenses, security and firewalls for IT systems are maintained and monitored. Manage the IT department and oversee network maintenance, troubleshooting, system migrations, software and hardware set-up, and technology support activities including, but not limited to, computers, monitors, firewalls, WAN, LAN, printers, scanners, telephones, mobile devices and peripherals, and other office technology. Oversee and support server system(s) ensuring company-wide software compatibility. Provide support on a daily basis to end users on a variety of issues pertaining to both software and hardware. Identify, research, and resolve overall organizational technical problems. Act as liaison between ZNE and external hardware/software vendors and consultants. Supervise and train IT employee(s). Plan/provide basic computer/software training sessions for ZNE employees. Maintain database for keeping track of network settings/computer inventory/knowledge base (log of problems and their solutions)/usernames and passwords for employees/orders of software and hardware purchase. Minimum Job Requirements Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Associate’s degree, preferably in the field of information systems/technology. Minimum of 5 years experience on a managerial level in Information Systems. Customer-service focused with excellent interpersonal skills. Project management experience. Ability to effectively communicate in English. Must have access to a vehicle for the purpose of facilitating Zoo business at both sites Preferred Job Requirements Bachelor’s degree in information systems/technology. Knowledge and experience with Windows 10 and 11, MS365, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams and Adobe. Mac experience a plus. Audio visual technology experience Bi-lingual ability a plus. Hours This position is based at Franklin Park Zoo, but also requires onsite work at Stone Zoo. The IT Manager’s scheduled hours will be Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Due to the nature of the position, there will times when the IT Manager will be required to work early mornings, evenings and weekends either onsite at Franklin Park Zoo and Stone Zoo, or remote depending on the need.
