POSITION OVERVIEW

Under the general direction of the IT Manager, the IT Supervisor is responsible for achieving department objectives by supervising staff, organizing and monitoring work process within the Information Technology Department and to the designated business owners within Versant. The incumbent will act, in conjunction with other IT leaders as a liaison with the business clients and software vendors to provide work planning and contract management for IT services. The IT Supervisor serves as a leader in the group, participating in strategic IT planning, managing budget and capital planning and associated procurement, and providing guidance and expertise to both the business community and other resources within the IT team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Maintains and supports IT staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees, developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Ensures staff achieves job results through performance management, including planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; conducting training; implementing and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Completes operations by developing schedules; assigning and monitoring work; gathering resources; implementing productivity standards; resolving operations problems; maintaining reference manuals; implementing new procedures.
  • Controls expenses by gathering and submitting budget information; scheduling expenditures; monitoring variances; implementing corrective actions.
  • Provides quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Aids internal customers by providing an escalation point for problem analysis and problem resolution as well as for general work prioritization and resource assignment.
  • Develops and maintains necessary relationships with external service providers, vendors and other IT support personnel to resolve issues and ensure efficient operations.
  • Manages infrastructure/operations and vendor relationships, including work requests, helpdesk ticket monitoring and escalations as necessary.
  • Maintains an accurate record and up-to-date view of the department’s work plan and budget. Provides authorization and handles procurement processes along with associated billing administration.
  • Complies with and coordinates internal audit requirements, test policies and change control processes.
  • Complies with and coordinates all change management processes.
  • Maintains knowledge and understanding of existing and emerging technology.
  • Works in accordance with the documented environmental procedures, instructions, and specific responsibilities as defined in individual procedures and instructions.

Reports problems or deviations associated with environmental issues and the Environmental Management System (EMS) to the Environmental Department.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Participates in after-hours call out for application support and engagement of external resources.
  • Participates actively with related user groups.
  • Other related duties as assigned including designated duties associated with System Restoration.
REQUIRED OR PREFERRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent required, with a minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in a client-focused IT support role.
  • Minimum 2-4 years’ supervisory experience required.
  • Working knowledge of IT environments in general required.
  • Knowledge of testing methodologies and general understanding of audit requirements required.
  • Strong customer service ethic and the ability to work independently or in teams, without supervision.
  • Project Management experience is a plus.
  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with utility application systems, geospatial, billing or customer account systems, and/or electrical infrastructure and design preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must be willing to travel for training and User Group participation.
  • Position requires identity verification and seven-year criminal background check with update at least every seven years pursuant to NERC standards.
