About the Position
The Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services is seeking an Information Technology Manager II to lead the development, maintenance, and support of the agency’s Case Management System. This system operates in a Windows Server environment and is built on the .NET platform. The successful candidate will have strong technical expertise in application development and database integration, coupled with proven management and leadership experience. This role involves supervising application development staff or contractors, coordinating system upgrades and enhancements, and supporting application-level integrations across other MDRS systems. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining applications in Microsoft Visual Basic and Xtends code, managing SQL Server databases, and implementing automated workflows in SharePoint Online. The Application and Programming Manager will oversee inter-application connectivity, manage ETL and API processes for data integration, and coordinate with internal teams to support related agency systems and databases. The role also includes generating actionable business intelligence reports and dashboards using Power BI and Tableau to drive data-informed decision-making. Collaboration with other IT units, business stakeholders, and program leaders is essential to ensure application solutions meet agency goals and comply with relevant standards and policies.
What you’ll need to be Successful
Proficiency in Microsoft Visual Basic, Microsoft SQL Server, Xtends code, and API development is required. Expertise in developing automated workflows and managing content in SharePoint Online is also important, along with the ability to support and integrate various MDRS applications and internal databases that interface with the Case Management System. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are necessary to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and to foster productive working relationships. A proactive, self-motivated attitude, commitment to continuous learning, and the ability to adapt to evolving technology environments will ensure long-term success in this role.
Preferred Qualifications
Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 5-8 + years of IT experience in multiple functions. May have had supervisory and/or managerial experience.
