The Director of Asset Management is responsible for the strategic oversight, governance, and optimization of IT and software assets across the enterprise. This role ensures lifecycle management, compliance, and cost-effective procurement and utilization of hardware and software assets. The Director will oversee enterprise tool evaluations, drive process automation, manage third-party vendor relationships, and play a pivotal role in the implementation and adoption of asset management platforms such as ServiceNow. This leader will ensure the organization maintains a true picture for assets and provides strategic insights to improve operational efficiency, risk reduction and financial performance. Experience overseeing vendor audits and security audits to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities :

Strategic Asset Management Lead the implementation, governance, and continuous improvement of IT asset management practices, focusing on both hardware (HAM) and software (SAM). Oversee the ServiceNow Asset Management upgrade initiative to ensure accurate CMDB records, automation of manual processes, and strategic use of the platform as the system of record. Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and service desk leaders to ensure end-to-end asset lifecycle integration. Software Asset Management & Optimization Evaluate and oversee software licensing tools and platforms (e.g., ServiceNow SAM module, Software Portals), including tool selection, implementation, and performance. Lead Proof-of-Concepts (PoCs) for asset management alternatives and make data-driven recommendations. Manage true-up processes and optimization projects for major software vendors (Adobe, Microsoft), including license deprovisioning via automated tools (e.g., chatbot Herbie) and business engagement. Analyze software usage data and provide cost-saving recommendations. Vendor & Contract Management Act as the relationship owner and delivery manager for third-party partners (e.g., UMS), ensuring service delivery, roadmap alignment, and accountability for consulting hours. Oversee vendor performance and contract compliance for major software agreements. Contribute to strategic contract negotiations and renewals, especially for Adobe, Microsoft, and ServiceNow. Configuration Management Develop and maintain the configuration management process and ensure the accurate and efficient management of configuration items (CIs). Oversee the configuration management database (CMDB) within ServiceNow, ensuring it is up-to-date and accurately reflects the IT infrastructure. Collaborate with IT teams to implement changes and updates to CIs, ensuring alignment with organizational policies and procedures. Team Leadership & Development Manage software managers and contractors responsible for license provisioning/deprovisioning, with a vision to evolve the function into a business intelligence and analytics-driven role. Foster a culture of automation and service efficiency, including development of a future state “peripheral marketplace” for self-service peripheral provisioning. Guide team development, role evolution, and succession planning (e.g., supporting a team of 3 employees and two managed services). Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement Liaise with technology executives, procurement, finance, and service desk leads to align asset management strategies with organizational goals. Run Configuration Control Board including monthly meetings to progress organization-wide initiatives. Lead reporting cycles and engagement sessions with business units to validate license usage and forecast costs. Governance & Reporting Maintain accurate reporting and compliance documentation for all software and hardware assets. Provide insights and dashboards to executives and stakeholders to inform spend optimization and risk mitigation strategies. Ensure readiness for true-ups, audits, and licensing renewals through proactive data analysis and stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications :

7+ years of experience in IT Asset Management or related roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership or strategic capacity. Strong knowledge of ServiceNow, HAM and SAM best practices. Experience managing large-scale software licensing agreements and vendor relationships. Must have experience managing a Microsoft software renewal with understanding of the CPS Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, drive automation, and reduce cost through optimization. Experience with a multi-layered organization Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and presentation skills. Familiarity with

ITIL, ISO

19770, and industry best practices in asset lifecycle management.
