We currently have an opening for an IT Infrastructure Director This vacancy is open to current NCDIT employees only or previous NCDIT employees with unexpired RIF priority re-employment rights. Current temporary employees working for NCDIT will also be considered. The IT Infrastructure Director will establish and oversee the Unit’s mission, goals, and objectives; supervise the day-to-day work of the infrastructure team; establish measures, evaluate performance, and ensure employees have the necessary skills to complete their assigned work. Duties include, but are not limited, to: Collaborate with agency stakeholders and peer IT units to understand business opportunities, and researches and evaluates platforms, services, and offerings accordingly. Seeks regular feedback and adjusts operational practices and procedures to continually improve the value of the infrastructure team Forecasts demand, prepares budgets, and manages expenditure. Distributes tasks, coordinates stakeholder engagements, and ensures follow-through of assigned activities. Responds to personnel issues, coaches employees, and takes corrective actions when necessary About the Organization The N.C. Department of Information Technology (NCDIT) serves as the Technology Center for the State of NC. Services that NCDIT provides reach a client base of state and local government agencies, as well as schools, colleges and universities. NCDIT’s mission is to enable trusted business-driven solutions that meet the needs of North Carolinians. NCDIT provides technology services to state agencies and is charged with closing the digital divide by expanding availability of broadband services and promoting the adoption of affordable, high-speed internet. To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following: Demonstrated experience in establishing effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders Demonstrated experience with long-range IT planning and/or IT work standards Demonstrated experience leading IT initiatives, IT projects, and/or IT programs Demonstrated experience influencing, motivating, and/or leading across an organization Demonstrated experience in a variety of computing platforms such as client server and/or personal computers Bachelor’s degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution and six years of progressive experience in the field of information technology which includes at least three years of managerial experience OR Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution and seven years of progressive experience in the field of information technology which includes at least three years managerial experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Employment at NCDIT is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Applicants seeking Veteran’s Preference must attach a DD form 214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty, along with your application. Applicants seeking National Guard Preference must attach a NGB 23A (RPAS) if you are a current member of the NC National Guard in good standing. If you are a former member of the NC National Guard who served for at least 6 years and was discharged under honorable conditions, you must attach either a DD256 or NGB 22. HYBRID/FLEXIBLE WORK SCHEDULES

If you do not currently reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the assigned duty station, new hires are granted up to 120 days from their start date to relocate.
