JOB TITLE

Director of Technology

JOB SUMMARY

Provide leadership, vision and direction in the planning and implementation of the School’s information technology programs and related operations in order to ensure implementation that supports student learning and teacher effectiveness and meets the School’s mission.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems Technology or related field. Master’s preferred .

EXPERIENCE

Five years Information Technology (IT) leadership experience and proven success in managing information technology resources and services, preferably in an educational environment. Demonstrates expansive knowledge of computer hardware, software, servers, networking and related technology (i.e. wireless, firewalls, MDM/Mosyle). Knowledge of student privacy / security issues and NH DOE programs affecting the use of technology in schools; understanding of NH Legislation affecting schools and industry standards / best practices in the use of technology in schools; and experience with educational administrative systems such as, but not limited to New Hampshire Department of Education database systems, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Free of restrictions that would limit the use of the hands as it relates to computer operation, with or without reasonable accommodation, and the ability to stand, walk, sit, lift, carry fifty (50) pounds, and accomplish physical management of students consistent with CPI training.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Valid driver’s license; clean driving and criminal record; possess and maintain certification in First Aid, CPR, and CPI. Participate in professional development as determined by supervisor.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Articulates a vision for information technology in an educational environment and develops strategic operational IT plans to achieve that vision in collaboration with supervisor and key users. 2. Leads IT strategic and operational planning to achieve School goals by fostering innovation, prioritizing initiatives and coordinating the deployment and management of IT initiatives. 3. Develops School’s IT budget, case justifications, and cost/benefit analyses for IT funding and initiatives in conjunction with the Director of Finance. 3. Develops effective partnerships with end users as a result of effective communication and strong interpersonal skills. 4. Acts as a resource person for the School’s staff use of technology; implementing and using appropriate hardware and software. 5. Supports staff in developing a working knowledge through various instructional techniques of technology to allow for full integration into the curriculum or work endeavors. 6. Provides administrative expertise, technical and instructional training to administration, teachers, therapists, and staff for the technology used to maintain student information and other platform based programs used within the School. 7. Identifies needs and organizes in service training for staff members in the use of new technology, hardware, software, etc. 8. Keeps an updated inventory of school owned hardware, devices, equipment and software. 9. Sets up email accounts, network access, laptops, desktops, printers, as needed for new staff or in order to upgrade hardware and software that’s reached its end of useful life or support. 10. Troubleshoots issues with IT equipment, network systems, and related means of connectivity. 11. Conducts routine maintenance of the network and individual pieces of IT equipment and when necessary coordinate with the School’s chosen independent IT vendor to make necessary repairs and upgrades. 12. Meets with the administrative team on a regular basis for review and planning of technology related issues. 13. Develops and executes a school wide disaster recovery and continuity plan. 14. Develops and prepares an annual report to the Executive Director and the School’s Board of Directors, evaluating and summarizing technology equipment, software status and status of technology curriculum implementation, in collaboration with the School’s independent IT vendor. 15. Attends Board of Director meetings as requested. 16. Maintains professional certification and/or competence by participating in professional development activities; and attends school based meetings and in-service training as scheduled. 17. Compensation is based on forty (40) hours per week, fifty-two (52) weeks per year.
