Summary/Purpose
The Director of Information Technology is responsible for defining and developing the business systems technologies, infrastructure, security, and practices. The main purpose of the position is to ensure the IT systems, operational practices, and people are jointly effective and functioning to support the businesses improvement goals. The position directs the implementation and management of existing and new information technology solutions in order to shape the technical roadmap of the organization.
Essential Duties and Accountabilities
Elaborate and deliver innovative solutions providing value to the business and aligning with company goals
Lead regional (USA, Canada, Mexico, and Latin America) IT strategy and execution in accordance with global IT strategy
Drive continuous improvement initiatives; apply 5 Why and PDCA methodologies for incidents and improvements
Develop and manage IT governance including standard policies, procedures, and controls to ensure reliable and affordable operation of JTEKT infrastructure and technology landscape
Mentor and educate IT management
Lead a team of IT general manager/managers and contributors of 40+ individuals
Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions and efficient resource allocation
Analyze business requirements of all departments to determine technology needs and ensure efficient and cost-effective solutions
Analyze and define outsourcing plan to deliver effective solutions (cost and outcomes)
Manage high availability data center with established disaster recovery plans and periodic testing
Establish and manage (monthly or more frequently) metrics to measure operational efficiency
List major advancements that provide transparency of targets and progress to senior management
Provide leadership on methods, tools, and approaches for JTEKT North America
Evaluate and confirm feasibility of new and emerging technologies
Apply and enforce Information Security best practices to the overall organization
Drive a culture of support to the Manufacturing operations and functional departments
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has multiple direct reports (manager and general manager levels) and leads a staff of 45+ experienced and highly skilled professionals.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Job Knowledge
Experience in the analysis, evaluation, and implementation of IT systems including ERP platforms
Experience in managing multiple, complex projects
Experience in leading continuous improvement and using lean tools (5 Whys, PDCA)
Experience overseeing functions related to networks, business systems, compliance, service desks, website development, and infrastructure (wireless, mobile & telecom systems)
Ability to apply and enforce Information Security best practices to the overall organization
Skills
Excellent organization and leadership skills; expert at leading cross-functional teams
Ability to work with and influence Senior Executive levels
Result-oriented, strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to clearly communicate complex technology matters
Education and Experience
15+ years of progressive IT leadership experience in information and technology leadership
Experience in managing complex ERP implementation including manufacturing
Experience in managing outsourcing and/or cloud service contracts
Experience in large scale infrastructure system project
BS/BA in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Security, or related field
MBA preferred
Work Environment/Physical Demands
Work is mostly performed in a normal office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards, and with substantial time spent working on a computer. Requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment.
Travel by automobile and plane required approximately 10-30% of time.
The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to manufacturing areas which require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.
Employee may perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
