Job Duties:
The IT Manager II manages the Server and Cloud Services Administration staff and directs activities of information technology professionals in the planning, development, support, maintenance, monitoring, and administration of agency servers and cloud services, including the full Microsoft 365 platform (Exchange, SharePoint, M365 Administration, Power Platform, Azure Active Directory, Teams, Intune, OneDrive, Microsoft Defender, Compliance Center, Security Center, and related applications) and on-premises infrastructure (Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file and print services, SCOM, SCCM, and Windows Server) to ensure maximum efficiency, uptime, and security. Coordinates with peers and executive leadership to develop and implement strategic solutions, providing secure and stable services for the deployment of the agency’s applications and services, while overseeing identity synchronization, single sign-on, hybrid integration, and modernization efforts to enhance scalability, data protection, and operational resilience. Serves as the primary agency contact with the SC Dept of Administration, PMO, and Division of Technology’s hosted services teams to monitor and collaborate to ensure that the Agency’s hosted environment, servers, and services are maintained, configured, updated, and monitored, and that all procedures and processes will properly secure data, applications, and communications conforming specifically to Agency and DTO standards, policies, and procedures and comply with State and Federal requirements. Evaluate and recommend resource configurations to provide a stable environment and control cost. Manages personnel in the administration and security of the Agency’s 24ll/365 delivery of server infrastructure and cloud hosted services, to include oversight and management of the Agency’s virtual servers deployed to support Agency applications and MS365 services and solutions. Responsible for the management and planning of the Agency’s Microsoft Cloud tenant and hosted solutions, and associated Microsoft licensing. This includes the planning, deployment, maintenance, monitoring, and updates for Microsoft Active Directory Services and Entra
ID, MS365, MS
MECM, and monitoring and verification of data storage, backups and disaster recovery solutions and services. Partners with the Agency Chief Information Security Officer and security team to ensure appropriate security protocol and policies are implemented and followed. Evaluates the business needs of the agency and recommends solutions. Assesses project progress and is held accountable for results. Directs the preparation of project reports for customers. Maintains service catalog associated with supporting collaborative services. Ensures that personal identifying information (PII) is properly used, accessed, gathered, shared and disposed. Protects the agency networks and applications by safeguarding systems, equipment and data. Performs other duties as required. Minimum and Additional Requirements An Bachelor’s Degree in communications, business administration, information technology, mathematics, statistics, management information science or a related field and experience in telecommunications, data processing and/or information technology. Relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.
