Summary:
Individuals in the job are responsible for assisting Tropical Financial Credit Union with the achievement of its purpose of guiding members successfully through the financial marketplace . The Business Applications Manager is key in aligning strategic business goals with operational execution. This role translates business objectives into actionable work plans and collaborates with sponsors and cross-functional stakeholders to achieve enterprise-wide technical initiatives. The role partners closely with various Credit Union business units to develop, deploy, and maintain technical solutions across multiple enterprise business application platforms. This role is responsible for overseeing the processes on these platforms and supervising or coordinating the activities of Business Applications Analysts and other personnel supporting these systems and technologies. Makes recommendations for application technologies, this role drives initiatives related to system enhancements, upgrades, and optimization efforts. Additional responsibilities include identifying and implementing opportunities to leverage web-based technologies to improve operational efficiency. The role leads complex projects or initiatives that may impact multiple functions and departments and makes critical decisions that contribute to the success of these efforts. Reporting directly to the Information Technology Director, the role also assists in shaping the strategic direction of the front-office, back-office, and delivery-channel processes. The focus of this role is on implementing new products and services, as well as enhancing and optimizing existing offerings. Regular interaction with department managers and senior leadership is expected. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned. Supports the mission of TFCU by providing excellent service to members (both external and internal) and by maintaining a positive outlook. Troubleshoot, research and resolve complex application systems ensuring enterprise applications and related processes experience minimal downtime. Participates in requirements gathering, project definition, analysis, and scoping activities associated with new application implementation or releases. Recruit, train, and develop staff to ensure a high-performing team capable of meeting IT Business Applications expectations. Conduct regular coaching and performance evaluations, provide feedback, and set clear goals and outline development opportunities for team members. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes teamwork and continuous improvement. Ensure team training and development and reinforcement to ensure adherence to Credit Union policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements and thorough knowledge of products and services. Responsible for all operational activities of the credit union’s financial core applications and third-party platforms. Provides insight into the project teams in terms of the current and planned business environment. Provides consultation to project leadership on dependencies, gaps, and overlaps between business requirements. Serves as the organizational liaison with the user community. Provides support to the user team in terms of the best ways to use the application to address business needs and manage specific situations/exceptions within the system’s boundaries. Provides operational support to regular operation of the applications and troubleshooting activities to production issues and problems. Participates in developing the criteria, scenarios, and scripts for user acceptance testing (ensuring that what is delivered matches what was required and scoped). Participates in scope management activities to help translate user requirements into components of a future product release. Participate in the development/adaptation of Service Level Agreements for future product releases. Leads the transition planning and plans execution activities for software application releases. Assists in Disaster Preparedness and Recovery plan and implementation. Coordinates with the IT Network and Helpdesk Manager to secure problem resolution and new requests implementation. Directs training or trains workers to operate data processing computers and peripheral equipment. Confers with programmers to test new and modified programs. Oversee the operation of the computer to execute the program and observe operation to detect error or failure in the program’s progress. Develops Key performance indicators for his area and establishes baseline to promote continuous improvement. Proactive review of helpdesk tickets with direct report team to promote SLA and expedite resolution. Keep abreast of current and upcoming technologies. Ensure technology investments and processes are congruent with technology strategic direction. Participate with all departments in researching, evaluating, and recommending technology initiatives, including alternatives and resource assessment. Assist project leads with business plan initiatives by: Planning technology-related portions of projects Assisting with defining all aspects of projects to be considered Ensuring thorough documentation and testing throughout the implementation Coordinating I.T. and consultant resources. Monitoring technology portion of projects Function as project manager for technological projects from the area of responsibility. Provides cross training to IT Staff. In addition, other duties as assigned. BSA Compliance All employees are required to uphold the credit union’s compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and anti-money laundering (AML) policies and procedures. Specific functions will include awareness of unusual or suspicious activity relevant to the department. Complete BSA and OFAC training courses annually as provided by the Training and/or Compliance Departments. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act, Customer Identification Program, USA Patriot Act, OFAC, Fair Lending, and Credit Card Act. Comply with all credit union policies and procedures to ensure compliance with these regulations. Perform other duties as required, with or without accommodation. Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Troubleshooting, researching, and resolving complex application system issues; and managing enterprise-wide, complex projects; Evaluating and researching computer-related products. Reading, analyzing, and interpreting technical manuals; and applicable compliance rules and regulations. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Developing cost models; prepare workflow analysis and identify situations requiring action and resolving problems proactively. Evaluating and designing or recommending new systems and applying them to new or existing business processes. Developing creative and innovative system solutions; and communicating technical information to a non-technical audience. Defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions. Utilizing computer technology is used for communication, data gathering, and reporting and communicate effectively at all levels of the organization. Ability to effectively present information to senior management, public groups, and boards of directors. Has contact with vendors, industry peers, and professional associations to keep informed of existing and evolving industry standards and technologies.
The position manages four subordinates:
three Business Application Analysts and one Business Application Analyst Team Lead. The position is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Expert level experience managing/administering enterprise-level software business applications. Experience working with application developers to create and implement solutions. Solid teamwork and interpersonal skills; ability to work well on cross-functional project teams and foster team commitment to the task Ability to use change-control processes through the integration of business processes and system changes. Education and Experience Minimum Five years of experience in IT, and a minimum of three years in a leadership or management role. Experience in the financial services industry (banking, credit unions, etc.) is highly preferred. Strong experience in managing IT infrastructure, systems, networks, data and IT security. Experience performing vulnerability and IT risk assessments. Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information systems preferred, will consider work experience and certifications in lieu of bachelor’s degree. Detailed understanding of project management techniques and software, i.e., M.S. Project or Zoho Projects and physical and system security requirements. General knowledge or exposure to Credit Union technology such as Item Processing, IVR systems, Internet Banking, or ATM Deployment Proven record of accomplishment in technical problem resolution and systems integration preferred Possess general knowledge or exposure to reporting tools preferred.
