Summary:
As Technical Manager under the Telco Programs vertical, you will lead execution across AST’s technical initiatives: LEO Satellite-to-Cellular Deployment (Local & Global)
GEO Satellites
- L-Band activation on NB-IoT
Telco Lab & Gateway Buildout and Validation.
Core, RAN, Transport & MNO System Integration.
End-to-End (E2E) testing aligned with global telecom standards
Deployment of Ground Network to Compliment/Boost Satellite Signals/Coverage on Ground
Satellite Gateway and Comprehensive Telco Lab Development to Test E2E Telco Professional Services/Features. You will be based in Miami, FL, overseeing the buildout and operation of a true end-to-end lab and gateway infrastructure. As a central technical and customer-facing stakeholder, you will manage deliverables from planning through rollout, ensuring all program milestones, KPIs, and risks are effectively tracked and executed in alignment with internal teams and external partners. Key Responsibilities Technical & Delivery Leadership Own program delivery across RAN, Core, Satellite, Gateway, Transport, and UE elements.
Act as the single point of contact for program execution, interfacing with internal teams and vendors.
Execute full project lifecycle: initiate, plan, track, and deliver.
Ensure alignment with partner timelines and vendor roadmaps.
Oversee lab-to-field release cycles, validating software and configuration in a controlled environment. Project Management Apply proven project management frameworks to track scope, and delivery timelines.
Collaborate across Infrastructure, Satellite SW, Core/Payments, and Field Operations teams.
Coordinate change requests, risk mitigation, and performance reporting using Jira/Confluence.
Interface with internal/ external stakeholders to ensure consistent communication, transparent documentation, and structured escalation handling.
Perform root cause analysis (RCA) across lab, beam, transport, and live networks.
Ensure logs are collected, reviewed, and routed to appropriate teams.
Drive patch cycles and resolution across internal teams and external vendors.
Validate all fixes pre-deployment (lab
- > live) as well Bug-to-Fix Process Ownership & coordination for end to-end software patch lifecycle-from bug detection to vendor escalation, validation, and closure.
Lab & Gateway Infrastructure Ownership Lead build, design and operations of AST’s E2E integration lab replicating real-world network environments.
Ensure daily regression testing and validation of new software, patches, and features.
Simulate handovers, MNO signaling, and PLMN traffic under controlled lab conditions. Cross-Functional Coordination Partner with Satellite SW, Infra, Core, Transport, and Field Ops teams.
Coordinate with third-party vendors and manage inter-project dependencies globally. Monitoring, Risk & KPI Reporting Own daily stability reporting and readiness metrics.
Track and escalate issues tied to regression, outages, or test failures.
Use Power BI, Excel, and OSS/NMS tools to present progress to executives. Qualifications 15-20 years in telecom project delivery (2G-5G), with proven satellite and MNO field deployment exposure.
Experience with large-scale lab environments and global system integration.
Expertise in project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and customer-facing communication.
Familiarity with IP/Optical, RAN, Core network, NB-IoT implementations & spectrum configurations.
Strong communication and reporting skills from engineering to executive level. Tools & Systems Experience (Required) JIRA, Confluence
- defect tracking, RCA traceability.
NetAct, U2000, or equivalent OSS/NMS - network monitoring, fault & config mgmt.
Anritsu, Keysight, EXFO - UE/RF/spectrum/beam validation.
Wireshark, QXDM, XCAP - protocol tracing & call flow debugging.
Unix/Linux CLI, shell scripting - log extraction, troubleshooting automation.
Postman or similar - API & service interface testing.
Power BI - KPI visualization, reporting dashboards, execution tracking.
Excel (pivot/KPIs) - detailed trend and variance analysis.
