Senior IT Project Manager IT Project Manager Location
: Atlanta, GA – Htbrid 3 days/week onsite This is a 12+ month extendable contract. Position Summary We are seeking a seasoned IT Project Manager to lead and oversee the full project lifecycle from definition through implementation across multiple concurrent initiatives. The ideal candidate will be accountable for delivering projects within agreed scope, cost, schedule, and quality benchmarks. This role requires strong technical, leadership, and stakeholder management capabilities, and experience with both traditional and Agile project delivery. Key Responsibilities Lead end-to-end project management activities: scope, schedule, cost, quality, resources, communications, risks/issues, and integration. Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, status reports, budgets, and dashboards. Drive milestone tracking and change management throughout the project lifecycle. Establish and manage communication plans with project teams and stakeholders. Lead cross-functional meetings and provide day-to-day direction to internal teams and external vendors. Coordinate with business partners and technical SMEs to define requirements, manage deliverables, and ensure traceability. Oversee document control, issue resolution, and repository management. Manage mainframe-to-modern application transitions, including SaaS and client-server platforms. Serve flexibly across Scrum Master, Project Manager, and Program Manager responsibilities as needed. Requirements Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field; MBA preferred. Active PMP or in progress; Scrum certification strongly preferred. 8+ years of IT project management experience including software development, integration, and migration projects. 6+ years serving as a Scrum Master with proven application of Agile principles and frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe).
Deep understanding of SDLC methodologies:
Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid. Proficiency in project management and productivity tools: MS Project, MS Office Suite, Jira, Visio, SharePoint. Ability to influence and align cross-functional teams toward shared project goals. Effective in leading virtual/offshore vendor teams. Preferred Experience IT projects in transportation, logistics, asset management, or railroad industries. Transitioning legacy mainframe applications to modern platforms. Agile transformation initiatives. Experience with Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tools. Strong presentation skills for executive-level reporting. Attributes Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills. Organized, analytical, and highly motivated. Capable of making sound decisions under pressure. Ability to manage competing priorities and multitask effectively.
