The IT Operations Project Coordinator is responsible for planning and executing complex IT infrastructure projects across networking, security, telecommunications, virtualization, storage, and data center domains. This role is hybrid, coordinating with on-site teams or third-party providers as needed to implement solutions. The Project Coordinator will work closely with internal IT operations teams and external vendors/service providers to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with the organization’s technology strategy. By leveraging strong IT operations knowledge and project management best practices, this role drives initiatives that enhance the reliability, security, and efficiency of the company’s IT services.

Lead IT Infrastructure Projects:

Initiate, plan, and manage multiple concurrent IT projects (e.g. network upgrades, security implementations, telecom system integrations, virtualization deployments, storage expansions) from kickoff through completion.

Coordinate Cross-Functional Teams:

Work closely with various technical groups—networking, cybersecurity, telecom, systems engineering, and infrastructure operations—to gather requirements, allocate tasks, and track milestones for each project.

Vendor, Public Service Agencies, and Service Provider Management:

Liaison for external vendors, public service agencies, and service providers (e.g., telecom carriers, hardware/software suppliers). Coordinate deliverables, manage timelines, and ensure services meet project needs and contractual obligations.

Project Planning & Tracking:

Develop detailed project plans including objectives, timelines, and work breakdown structures. Use project management tools to track progress, update status reports, and maintain clear documentation of changes, decisions, and action items.

Stakeholder Communication:

Provide regular updates to IT leadership and stakeholders. Conduct routine status meetings to report progress, issues, and upcoming milestones.

Change Management & Compliance:

Oversee changes to the IT environment following established change management processes. Ensure that all infrastructure changes (e.g., network configurations and server updates) adhere to security policies and regulatory requirements.

Risk & Issue Management:

Identify potential risks, issues, and dependencies. Develop mitigation and contingency plans and escalate critical risks to management with recommended solutions.

Quality Assurance & Handover:

Coordinate testing and validation of new or updated infrastructure solutions. Ensure that project deliverables meet the defined success criteria. Facilitate a smooth handover to operations/support teams with comprehensive documentation.

Strategic Alignment:

Work with IT Operations leadership to ensure each project aligns with the broader IT roadmap and business objectives. Participate in prioritizing the project portfolio based on resource capacity and strategic value.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience:

3+ years EMS related IT experience. Approximately 5+ years of overall IT experience, including 3+ years of hands-on project management in medium/large EMS IT environments.

IT Operations Expertise:

Strong technical background across enterprise networking (LAN/WAN, routing, switching), IT security practices (firewalls, IDS/IPS, identity management), telecom (VoIP, connectivity solutions), server infrastructure and virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), and storage systems (SAN, NAS).

Project Management Skills:

Proven ability to manage projects through the full lifecycle—initiation to closure—using recognized methodologies. Demonstrated skills in scope management, scheduling, risk assessment, and change control on technical projects.

Process & Tool Knowledge:

Familiarity with IT service management and change management processes. Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools (e.g. MS Project, Jira, Monday, SharePoint) for scheduling, documentation, and communication.

Communication & Interpersonal Skills:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to convey technical concepts to both technical staff and non-technical stakeholders.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management:

Experience coordinating deliverables and timelines with external vendors or service providers. Strong stakeholder management to balance the needs of internal teams, management, and third parties.

Analytical & Organizational Skills:

High attention to detail and ability to multitask and coordinate several projects simultaneously. Skilled in problem-solving and resolving project issues to keep initiatives on track.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience). Approximately 7+ years of overall IT experience, including 5+ years of hands-on project management in medium/large IT environments.

ITIL Certification:

Demonstrates knowledge of IT service management best practices.

Project Management Certification:

PMP (Project Management Professional) or PRINCE2 certification, reflecting formal training in project management.

Security Certification:

CISSP, reflecting a deep understanding of cybersecurity principles.

Networking Certification:

CCNA or equivalent, indicating strong knowledge of network infrastructure concepts. Other Plus Factors include experience in a cloud-centric environment, familiarity with DevOps or infrastructure-as-code concepts, or advanced knowledge of enterprise architecture.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
