Staff Engineer DUTIES:

Lead the design, development, and deployment of (primarily iOS app-based) solutions for Spotify products with a critical focus on performance, resilience, security, instrumentation, and scalability. Contribute to solutions that may be outside of the domain of expertise but where personal experience and skills can improve chance of success. Be accountable for the success of the engineering work within the Product Area (PA), alongside other senior engineering leadership, and be comfortable with making the final decision when necessary. Collaborate, mentor, and coach other engineers across multiple squads within the assigned Product Area to ensure best practices across all of the aforementioned considerations – performance, resilience, security, instrumentation, and scalability. Find ways to spread learning and knowledge sharing across all levels of our organization, and in doing so, level up our engineering practices. Work closely with Product, Design and Insights peers to continuously improve product through data-driven, experimentation-led innovation. Be an acknowledged expert and problem solver, with a track record of successes, in your domain of expertise (iOS). Accurately represent the PA in wider forums such as company events, stakeholder meetings, and third-party engagements. Write clear, maintainable Swift code (interacting with various iOS frameworks) that will scale across projects and distributed development teams, leveraging and aligning with Spotify’s engineering technical strategy. REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Software Engineering or a related field of study and seven (7) years of experience in Software Engineering or a related role. Must have seven (7) years of experience with: Objective-C programming and interoperability with Swift; System design methodologies and implementation; and Source code version control using third party tooling such as GitHub or Bitbucket. Must have six (6) years of experience with: Software testing methodologies; and industry standard build and delivery tools (CI/CD). Must have five (5) years of experience with: Swift programming language; Software architecture and design of new iOS frameworks for large scale iOS applications; and Networking for low latency and high performance including the use of the Protobuf protocol.

SALARY:

$221,527 to $332,291 / year

WORK SCHEDULE

9am to 5pm, 40 hours a week. (Monday – Friday)
