About the role:
The Routing organization is building one ofSamsara’s most ambitious mobile experiences, designed to supportthe daily workflows of drivers in the field and help them staysafe, efficient, and on track. This is a deeply technical problemspace that blends real-time data, thoughtful UX, and platform-widecoordination to create a seamless experience under challengingconditions, like poor connectivity, dynamic job schedules, andconstantly changing routes. We’re looking for engineers who want towork close to the customer, move fast, and shape the future ofSamsara’s Driver App. You’ll join a team that values quality,performance, and impact – and you’ll help deliver a product that’scritical to the success of our customers’ operations and the safetyof their teams. This is a full-time remote position. This positionrequires travel up to 10% of the time and proximity to aninternational airport. Relocation assistance will not be providedfor this role.

- Design and develop advanced native iOS features andmodules in Swift, tackling complex challenges such as real-timedata, mapping, and sensor integrations to deliver a seamless,high-performance user experience
- Profile, analyze, and optimizeapp performance (CPU, memory, network), using tools like XcodeInstruments to pinpoint bottlenecks and ensure the application runssmoothly and efficiently at scale
- Architect and maintain ascalable iOS codebase with clean design patterns and bestpractices, ensuring solutions are built for the long term and areeasy to maintain as the product evolves
- Collaborate closely withproduct managers, designers, and other engineers to rapidly iterateon new features with a sense of urgency, delivering incrementalvalue to users without compromising quality or stability
- Providetechnical leadership within the iOS team by setting and upholding ahigh bar for code quality through code reviews, mentoring juniordevelopers, and driving continuous improvements in our developmentprocess Minimum requirements for the role:
- 5 years ofprofessional iOS development experience building and shippingcomplex, high-quality apps (using Swift and Objective-C)
- Deepunderstanding of the iOS platform and SDK – expert in Swift andUIKit (including familiarity with low-level iOS APIs) andcomfortable with concurrency/reactive programming patterns (e.
g.
Grand Central Dispatch, Combine)
- Strong experience in performancetuning and debugging on iOS, including profiling with Instrumentsto diagnose and fix memory, CPU, or networking issues
- Experiencewriting unit tests and UI tests (XCTest/XCUITest) and working withcontinuous integration systems to ensure robust, reliable releases
- Familiarity with iOS accessibility standards and tools(VoiceOver, Dynamic Type, etc.), with a commitment to buildinginclusive, accessible applications An ideal candidate also has:
- Experience with geospatial or mapping technologies (MapKit, Mapbox,or other GIS frameworks) is a strong plus
- Familiarity with thelogistics, transportation, or fleet management domain (e.g.telematics, routing, or industrial IoT applications) is beneficial
- Experience with React Native application development
- Exposureto hardware integrations on iOS (Bluetooth LE devices, cameras, orother sensors) is a bonus
