Job Description

Electricity networks infrastructure and energy storage underpin the transition to net zero and are critical in enabling the deployment of renewables. To facilitate the capacity increase needed to meet net zero by 2050, the onshore network could require an additional £100-£240 billion of investment. The Department for Business and Trade’s Electricity Networks and Energy Storage Team is responsible for driving investment, growth and exports across the sectors to ensure that the networks upgrade and build up drives economic growth and creates jobs around the UK. You will deliver this by establishing relationships with other parts of Government, senior industry figures, overseas posts, and many others to establish the most supportive business environment possible. The successful candidate will focus on the following team priorities: Market engagement to understand industry and supply chain needs. Working closely

OFGEM & DESNZ

on policy and reforms and their implementation to ensure they incentivise manufacturing in the UK and respond to issues raised by industry across networks and storage. Regular engagement with industry players including Transmission Operators (TOs) and Distribution Network Operators (DNO) to encourage greater cooperation to drive order certainty and facilitate investment from new entrants. Business engagement to advise companies on trade opportunities, maintaining relationship and an overview of UK capability, including Account Management. Advising the rest of the department and HMG on strengths and opportunities within the sector. Working with analysis to continuously improve data underpinning policy-making. Organise webinars with industry and Post representatives from priority markets, support inward trade delegations, accompany outward trade delegations to secure export wins, were relevant.
