Your Role We are seeking an experienced Subject Matter Expert 2 to join our high-performing network engineering team. The ideal candidate will bring advanced technical knowledge, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to lead initiatives supporting enterprise-level systems. This role plays a vital part in sustaining and modernizing complex IT infrastructures that support critical government missions. Occasional travel. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure Lead Tier 3 support for escalated network and cybersecurity issues Conduct network assessments and proactively resolve vulnerabilities Develop and maintain technical documentation, diagrams, and SOPs Participate in root cause analysis and drive continuous service improvements Plan and execute network upgrades, migrations, and deployments Coordinate with vendors to ensure timely delivery and resolution of technical issues Perform network capacity planning, monitoring, and recovery Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies to enhance performance Mentor junior engineers and provide technical training as needed Support continuity of operations (COOP) planning and execution Maintain and improve lifecycle sustainment and refresh activities Document solutions and contribute to knowledge management resources Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (or AA/AS) and 8-10 years of experience, or Master’s degree with 5-7 years of experience (additional experience may substitute for degree) Expertise in enterprise networking and security architecture Proficiency with routing/switching protocols such as BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VPNs, VLANs, VoIP, and multicast Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, and Ciena products Strong understanding of IP subnetting and network topologies Proficient in network monitoring tools (e.g., NNMi, Spectrum, MRTG, CACTI) Strong communication skills and experience working with cross-functional teams Ability to work flexible shifts and multitask in fast-paced environments Experience writing and presenting technical reports and briefings Preferred Qualifications Experience with Juniper (MX, EX, SRX) routing, switching, and security appliances Knowledge of Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and NetOps concepts Familiarity with Splunk and Linux systems Experience with NNMi configuration and commercial carrier services (AT&T, Verizon) Certifications Active or current CCNA, CCNP, or JNCIA preferred Security Clearance Must have or be able to obtain a Public Trust How You Will Be Rewarded We provide a total rewards approach to compensation, providing incentives and benefits far beyond base salary. The annual salary for this role depends on the candidate’s work experience, education/training, and related skills, the range for this position is expected to fall between $65,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year.
