Substitute – Learning Network Specialist 4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 1501 NE 62nd Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33334 Purpose The Learning Network Specialist is responsible for meeting with students individually and in small groups to address students’ varying learning styles and needs and provide individualized academic support strategies and executive functioning skill development through differentiated strategies and activities that encourage students to understand their learning styles, work toward academic success, and develop self-advocacy skills. Essential Job Functions Supports the School’s mission statement and the philosophy of the department and adheres to School policies and procedures, including but not limited to what is outlined in the Employee Handbook Meets with teachers, parents, and other Learning Specialists to determine appropriate strategies, interventions, and assessments Schedules, attends, and documents parent and teacher conferences throughout the academic year Updates parents and teachers regularly about student progress and needs through email, telephone, and progress reports Serve as a liaison between teachers, administrators, and the Learning Network Department Demonstrates considerable knowledge of the principles and methodologies of effective teaching and curriculum design Has a strong command of the English language in written and verbal content Works cooperatively with colleagues, respecting the confidential nature of professional and student information, submitting reports accurately and punctually, and complying with administrative directives and school guidelines Demonstrates good work habits to include punctual and regular attendance and efficient use of time Delivers and articulates oral presentations and written communication and interact effectively with staff, parents, students, and the school community Demonstrates the responsibility for own professional growth by seeking and requesting continuing education and training program Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Department Supervisor or their designee Job Qualifications Education Bachelor’s Degree required Experience and Qualifications Previous experience working with children is essential, classroom teaching experience preferred
