Kentro is seeking a skilled and motivated Network Engineer to join our dedicated team supporting a critical Zero Trust (ZT) surge initiative for U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). In this crucial role, you will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and security of network infrastructure in alignment with Zero Trust architectural designs. You will provide essential hands-on network expertise, contributing significantly to the initial Iplan creation and the subsequent multi-year ZT engineering and operational efforts. This position maps to the DoD 8140 Network Technician framework at a Journeyman level, requiring strong technical skills in network implementation, security, and troubleshooting within complex environments.

Responsibilities:

+ Implement, configure, and maintain secure network infrastructure (routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, NAC solutions) based on Zero Trust architectural designs. + Implement network segmentation and micro-segmentation strategies as directed by senior architects. + Ensure network configurations comply with DoD ZT mandates and relevant security policies (e.g., STIGs). + Monitor network performance, availability, and security, utilizing tools like SIEM platforms and network analysis tools to identify and respond to anomalies and incidents. + Troubleshoot and resolve complex network connectivity and performance issues. + Apply and manage network security controls, including access control lists (ACLs), firewall policies, and intrusion detection/prevention rule sets. + Support the integration of network telemetry and security data into the broader ZT visibility and analytics framework. + Develop and maintain accurate network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures. + Collaborate with cybersecurity architects and engineers to ensure network security is properly implemented and integrated with overall system designs. + Manage network OS backups, recovery processes, and IOS upgrades. + Configure and manage DHCP, DNS, and PKI-related network services. + Provide feedback on the feasibility and operational impact of proposed network designs.

Location:

On-site in Tampa, FL Requirements + Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Engineering OR at least a minimum of five (5+) years of hands-on experience in network engineering, with a focus on network security, implementation, and operations. + Required Certifications (one of the following): + Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNA) + CompTIA Network + CE + CompTIA Security + CE + Strong knowledge of computer networking concepts (TCP/IP, OSI model, routing, switching), protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP), and network security methodologies. + Practical experience implementing and troubleshooting enterprise-grade network hardware (Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto Networks, etc.). + Proficiency with network security controls and principles (firewalls, DMZs, VPNs, IDS/IPS, NAC, encryption). + Experience with implementing network segmentation and access control lists. + Skill in using network monitoring, management, and analysis tools (e.g., SIEM, SolarWinds, Wireshark). + Knowledge of risk management processes and the ability to identify and mitigate network-related security risks. + Familiarity with STIGs and experience applying STIG upgrades to network devices. + Understanding of cloud networking concepts (VPCs/VNets, security groups) and hybrid connectivity. + Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure in mission-critical environments. + Strong communication and documentation skills.

Preferred:

+ Experience supporting DoD or USSOCOM environments is highly preferred. + Highly Desirable/Alternative Certifications + Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE) + Forescout Certified Professional (FSCP) + GIAC Defensible Security Architecture (GDSA) + Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCNP)

Security or Enterprise Clearance:

+ Active Top Secret clearance with SCI (Sensitive Compartmented Information) eligibility is required.
