ABOUT THE ROLE
The Automation Engineer is responsible for plant process controlsystem [PCS] specification, application programming, testing,commissioning and maintenance. The incumbent applies the PCS as atool for improvement of plant performance including rate,availability, OEE and MTBF. Other responsibilities includefacilitating use of the PCS as a resource for Process, Maintenance,Production, Shipping, Environmental and Quality Departments.
WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving andadhering to safety policies in all work environments andareas. Manage and maintain all process related hardware, software anddocumentation within the confine of the control room and serverroom. Prevent downtime due to faults; continuous improvement toextend life of existing PCS and facilitate eventual upgrade orreplacement. Programming of Rockwell Contrologix PLC’s, Factorytalk RSViewHMI’s, VMWare Network Virtualization. Support installation of new plant equipment from conception tooperation. Assure integration of new systems into plantoperations. Use of the PCS to provide information for management or otherreporting functions (high degree of involvement with environmentalreporting and permit compliance). Responsible for the revision, testing, and distribution of GFSsfor new and revamped systems and user competency training. Ensures the development, review and implementation of SystemsStandard Operating procedures (SOPS). Work closely with Electrical, Reliability and Process Engineersto analyze, improve and document all aspects of operations. Extensive knowledge of high and low voltage power distributionsystems, weighing and batching systems, instrumentations, highlevel control and expert systems, PLC control and machineryinterlocking systems, variable speed drives and motor controlsystems. Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving andadhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all workenvironments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibitthese behaviors.

Bachelor’s degree or years of equivalent experience
Field of Study Preferred:
Computer Science,Electrical/Instrumentation, Process Control Required Work Experience:
3 years of experience

Microsoft Office, SAP Additional Requirements:
Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols andproper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment(“PPE”), including but not limited to respirators. Employees thatare required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where therespirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative andquantitative fit tests.
