Position Summary
Lightera,LLC (“Lightera”), a world class leader in the research, development and manufacture of optical fiber, is seeking a Network Engineer reporting to the Global Director of Infrastructure and Cybersecurity and will be responsible for managing and monitoring Lightera’s network infrastructure. In this role, you will research and provide design level solutions for the current corporate LAN/WAN system within Lightera considering availability, scalability, security and manageability as appropriate. Essential Job Functions Contribute as part of a global team of network engineers to standardize, secure, and manage Lightera’s physical and virtual networks.
Contribute to planning, staffing, training, cost estimation, proposal preparation, scheduling, quality control, delivery, and operational oversight for network solutions
Manage ticket resolution with strict adherence to network operations and set MTTR goals.
Ensure MTTR goals are met by generating and implementing repeatable processes across all shifts driving network-related issues to resolution
Evaluate Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for failure trends and process improvements
Contribute to the development and maintenance of department goals, metrics, and KPIs specific to network operations
Develop and refine standard operating procedures with control mechanisms to ensure seamless integration and delivery for network operations
Remain current with new and existing best practices to innovate network operations to industry standards and accepted norms
Collaborate, recommend, and assist with implementation of new tools, technologies, and processes to enhance operational efficiency Other duties and projects as assigned. Required Experience Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience
Minimum 10 years working in a Network and/or Systems Engineer capacity with aminimum 7 years of experience architecting, designing, and implementing networks and/or systems
Experience with Juniper, Ivanti, Fortinet, and WiFi management platforms like Meraki preferred
Familiar with Windows and MAC enterprise OS environments
Ability to provide an exceptional customer and service level experience utilizing IT management tools
Proven ability to work with a team that is geographically distributed both domestically and internationally
Experience working with and managing incident, problem, change, and service requests that follow ITIL v4 framework standards
Ability to complete multiple tasks concurrently and deliver results under timelines and pressure.
Strong problem solving – leverage relationships, customer skills, business acumen, and creativity to solve problems.
Must be available for network emergencies 24×7, some evening and/or weekend work as necessary based upon projects, implementations, and workload. Required Qualifications Experience with

Juniper Switching:
STP, RSTP, MST, LAN

tuning / protection, VTP, Vlans, 802.1Q / ISL trunk connections, Understand

MAC / ARP

tables.
Experience with Juniper WAN/LAN technologies, including primary routing protocols such as: EIGRP / BGP, some

OSPF / RIP

(ISIS Not required), redistribution, route maps, Access Control Lists (ACL), IP Subnet/ Variable Length Subnet Masking (VLSM), SNMPv2 / SNMPv3, Radius.
Experience with Network Hardware Design and Configuration, Network Troubleshooting, Network Performance Tuning.
Experience with Network Access Controls (NAC) / 802.1X authentication.
Experience with WAN and

VPN / VRF

Solutions, MPLS, IPsec, IPsec/GRE, and Performance Routing.
Experience with DNS/DHCP, IPAM, load balancers (F5), and Authentication Systems, SSL VPN.
Experience with enterprise network management tools such as HPNA, SolarWinds, LiveAction, Splunk, or similar technologies.
Knowledge of ITIL Change & Configuration Management.
