Job Description

Backflow Coordinator

LOCATION

City of Griffin

DESCRIPTION

The individual in this position performs technical duties related to a variety of department operations, including cross connection and backflow prevention operations, metering operations, and billing operations.

Essential duties include:

Administers the cross-connection control and backflow prevention program for the water distribution system; tests and maintains all backflow prevention components.
Ensures that all businesses remain compliant with related federal codes.
Coordinates the installation of automatic meter reading devices; monitors meter operations and usage data; runs reports to identify and resolve meter problems.
Coordinates the installation of large meters; oversees the work of contractors and ensures the proper testing of large maters for accuracy.
Performs technical duties related to the department’s billing operations; troubleshoots and resolves billing problems; uploads, downloads and analyzes data from meters to identify billing issues.
Performs related duties.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge of cross connection control testing and maintenance principles.
Knowledge of backflow prevention device installation and repair principles.
Knowledge of automatic meter reading hardware and software.
Knowledge of water meter installation, calibration and repair principles.
Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.
Skill in the interpretation of a variety of maps and graphs.
Must have good judgement and the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations remaining helpful and pleasant at all times.
Must have a professional appearance, positive demeanor, and treat others with dignity and responding promptly to their needs
Must have clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interpret such information.
Must have the ability to communicate effectively with others and adequately and respectfully deal with members of the general public
Employee should possess a high level of personal responsibility for completing assigned duties with little supervision or intervention by the respective Supervisor.
Proficiency in the use of computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel and email.
High school diploma or GED.
Minimum of one year of related experience.
Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia, acceptable driving history, and the ability to drive a vehicle as needed.
Possession or obtainment of a valid Water Distribution Operator License within 12 months of position date.
Possession of a valid Certified Backflow Tester license issued by the State of Georgia, within 12 months of position date.

HOURLY RATE OF PAY
