UCaaS Engineer Position Available In Middlesex, Massachusetts

Position Summary:

The UCaaS Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining unified communications systems that integrate voice, video, messaging, and collaboration tools across enterprise environments. This role ensures high availability, performance, and security of the communication infrastructure, supporting both internal operations and client-facing services.

Key Responsibilities:

System Design & Implementation:

Architect and deploy UCaaS solutions including Avaya, Cisco, and Microsoft Teams platforms.

Configure and manage IP handsets, soft clients, and media gateways (e.g., Avaya

G450, G650, G860

).Integrate UCaaS platforms with existing IT infrastructure and cloud services (e.g., O365, Azure).

Operations & Maintenance:

Administer Avaya Systems Manager, Session Manager, and Communication Manager (R10).Maintain high availability messaging systems with 2,000+ mailboxes and voicemail-email synchronization.

Monitor and troubleshoot network performance using Cisco Meraki switches and ISR routers.

Security & Compliance:

Implement

NIST 800

security controls and ensure compliance with federal regulations.

Manage SBCs, firewalls, and secure remote access for voice and video traffic.

Project Management & Collaboration:

Lead needs assessments and stakeholder interviews to define system requirements.

Coordinate Agile project delivery using task boards, daily standups, and centralized PM tools.

Collaborate with UX researchers and analysts to align technical solutions with user needs 1 2 3.

Qualifications:

Education:

B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

Experience:

5+ years in unified communications engineering, including data center and VoIP systems.

Proven track record with Avaya, Cisco, and Microsoft UC platforms.

Experience with UCaaS migrations, system upgrades, and hybrid deployments.

Skills:

Avaya IP handset configuration (9611, 9641), Avaya Workplace Client.

Cisco networking, VLANs, QoS, SIP trunking.

Agile methodologies, systems analysis, and documentation tools.

Certifications (Preferred):

Avaya Certified Implementation Specialist (ACIS)
