Automation Engineer Job Description The Automation Engineer position involves performing duties within the Engineering Department, focusing on design, research, prototyping, and engineering documentation. Responsibilities Program using various platforms, primarily Logix 5000 and TIA Portal. Migrate obsolete Allen Bradley PLC’s to ControlLogix Create and modify PLC code to achieve desired results. Design and modify schematics and panel layouts using AutoCAD. Work hands-on with industrial equipment. Write programs from scratch for equipment. Essential Skills Proficient in Allen-Bradley, HMI, PLC, and ladder logic programming. Experience migrating/installing ControlLogix control systems 3+ years of experience with a BS degree or 5+ years of equivalent experience. Ability to program, modify, and troubleshoot PLCs. Experience with wire and cable equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications BS degree in a related field is preferred. Experience in robotics and automation for material handling is a plus. Work Environment The work environment is within an engineering firm specializing in wire and cable lines. The engineering staff handles all project phases from design to commissioning. This is a project that will require travel to the customer site for control system installation and commissioning, requiring roughly 75% travel for a short period.
