Your Mission:

As a member of theCloud Engineering and Operations Department, youll be part of theinfrastructure team responsible for enabling the deployment andongoing operational excellence of Medidatas state-of-the-artproduction data centers. Our infrastructure is growing, and wetypically handle multiple design, procurement, ordering, anddeployment projects simultaneously. You will be an integral part ofthese projects and help our company continue its successful globalexpansion. The Staff Lead Network Engineer is responsible for allfunctions relating to the operations and support of our hostingnetwork technology infrastructure. This engineer must be able towork in a highly dynamic environment, either individually or aspart of a team. It is required to perform various levels ofprojects, support initiatives and help to prioritize the workloadswhile following our Agile project management methodology. Thisposition is responsible for supporting all network-based activitiesas part of the Medidata Clinical Cloud Platform. This includesplanning and installation of new hardware, monitoringLAN/WAN/Internet circuits uptime and bandwidth while ensuring highnetwork availability, resolving complex client related problems,and designing and implementing all VPN/WAN links within Medidataand with external clients.

Responsibilities:

Responsible forfollowing the vision and strategy for Medidatas hosting networkoperations Responsible for operating Medidatas customer facing datacommunications systems Responsible for all functions relating tothe design, planning, implementation, configuration and operationof local and wide-area network solutions between multiple platformsand protocols (including IP) of our hosting network infrastructureEnsure the entire network is properly monitored while overseeingalerts regarding network outages are addressed in a timely mannerand meet mandated SLAsMonitor network links for performance withinset thresholds Supports, troubleshoots and repairs network relatedissues Maintain a high level of functionality and availability ofall VPN links, routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers and WANlinks Determines the potential causes of the problem and devisetest methodologies for validation Coordinates procurement,implementations, and troubleshooting efforts with vendorsResponsible for leading all project implementations requiringnetwork resources Conducts project planning, cost analysis andvendor comparisons Identify network configuration and/orperformance irregularities while developing procedures to respondto these irregularities in a timely manner Create/Maintain networksupport documentation while constantly improving existing processesand procedures Provides training and assists with proposal writing

Your Competencies:

Experience in designing scalable cloud and datacenter using Private/public cloud technology and managingenterprise-class routers, switches, firewalls and F5 LTM/GTMIn-depth knowledge of network security protocols, includingfirewalls, VXLAN, L2VPN, L3VPN, IDS/IPS, and DDoS mitigationtechniques High proficiency with routing protocols (RIP, OSPF,EIGRP, BGP), VPN and various firewall technologies and vendorsIndustry certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent arehighly desirable. Expert understanding of external L2 / L3 fabricconnectivity and experience in L2 / L3 switching Architecturedesign Solid understanding of network virtualization Expertise incontainerized networking, CNI plugins i.e. Calico,Cilium Expertisein defining network policy, external connectivity to Kubernetescluster Excellent knowledge of (DDI) DNS and

DHCP, IP

addressmanagement (IPAM) Hands on and troubleshooting experience ofSpine-Leaf architecture CISCO Nexus- N9K or equivalent Experiencewith ingress/egress and service mesh (linkerD or istio)implementation and management Work closely with engineers, QA,project managers throughout the software lifecycle in optimallydelivering outstanding, large scale systems Provide 24 x 7production support on a rotating basis

Additional Skills:

Knowledgeof SD-WAN solution deployment Experience with L4-L7- loadbalancing, firewalls, etc. will be an additional advantage Expertexperience with configuring and deploying enterprise-class networksincluding the following products: Cisco Nexus/Catalyst ProductLines Problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressurein a fast-paced environment. Effective communication andinterpersonal skills to collaborate with various teams andstakeholders Experience in conducting Network Assessments includingthe documentation and presentation of the findings

Your Education &Experience:

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, InformationTechnology, or a related field (or equivalent experience) 7 yearsof total experience with at least 3 years hands-on experience innetwork engineering, preferably with container orchestrationplatforms like Kubernetes CCNP certification or equivalent requiredCCIE certification preferred At least 2 years of Programming skillsin any one of these Python, Ansible, Go preferred Experiencesupporting a 24×7 Operational environment, requiring shift supportAs with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on a number offactors including function, level, candidate expertise andexperience, and geographic location. The salary range for positionsthat will be physically based in New Jersey is $114,750-$153,000per year The salary range for positions that will be physicallybased in Texas is $101,250-$135,000 per year Base pay is one partof the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate andrecognize employees for their work. Most sales positions areeligible for a commission on the terms of applicable plandocuments, and many of Medidatas non-sales positions are eligiblefor annual bonuses.
