This role involves working closely with engineers, project managers, and military personnel to ensure seamless communication infrastructure and network operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for configuring, troubleshooting, and optimizing various communication systems to enhance operational effectiveness in naval environments. This is an onsite position reporting out of Charleston, SC.
Position Duties:
System Deployment & Configuration:
Assist in the design, installation, and configuration of communication systems, including voice, data, and satellite networks
Network Management:
Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain network infrastructure to ensure secure and efficient communication across naval operations
Technical Support:
Provide on-site and remote technical support to resolve issues related to communication systems and equipment
Security & Compliance:
Ensure all communication networks and systems comply with Department of Defense (DoD) cybersecurity standards and operational security protocols
Collaboration & Coordination:
Work closely with NIWC Atlantic teams, contractors, and military stakeholders to align communication strategies with mission objectives
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of system configurations, network performance, and issue resolutions, while also preparing technical reports for senior leadership
Training & Knowledge Sharing:
Conduct training sessions and create instructional materials to educate personnel on the proper use and maintenance of communication systems. Other duties as assigned
Position Required:
5+ years of experience in communications systems setup, network administration, or related technical fields Experience working in a DoD or government contracting environment Strong understanding of network architecture, radio frequency (RF) communications, and cybersecurity protocols Experience configuring and maintaining Cisco, Juniper, and/or other networking equipment Familiarity with DoD network security requirements, RMF (Risk Management Framework), and Authority to Operate (ATO) processes Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in LAN, WAN, VoIP, and SATCOM technologies Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications for documentation and reporting Strong written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret or Top Secret/SCI security clearance Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field CCNA, Security+, or Network+ certification
Position Desired:
Experience in tactical communications and military-grade networking systems Familiarity with software-defined networking (SDN) and cloud-based communication solutions
Required Minimum Education :

More than 1 month per year. Up to 25% travel to support on-site system installations, testing, and training efforts at various military installations.
Salary:
