Job Description
Network Engineer Job Scope Responsible to ensure 100% uptime through effective design, installation, maintenance, redundancy plans, and systems of the overall IT infrastructure and software for manufacturing operations. Maintain safety and security protocols protecting business information and ensuring data storage is effective. The IT Engineer is furthermore responsible to educate the organization on risk associated with external threats. This role involves working with a variety of network technologies to ensure the smooth operation of network services; design, deployment, and maintenance of an organization’s IT systems, including servers, storage, and software solutions. This role ensures the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of IT systems that support core business functions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Network Design, Maintenance, and Implementation:
Design and implement network solutions to meet business requirements, including LAN, WAN, and wireless networks. Troubleshoot and ensure optimal performance.
Security Management:
Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.
Performance Monitoring:
Monitor network performance, identify issues, and implement solutions to optimize performance.
Documentation:
Create and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams and configurations.
System Design, Maintenance, and Deployment:
Design and deploy IT systems to meet business requirements, including servers, storage, and virtualization solutions. Ensure high levels of reliability.
Security Management:
Implement and manage system security measures, including antivirus solutions, patch management, and security policies.
Performance Monitoring:
Monitor system performance, identify issues, and implement solutions to optimize performance.
Upgrades and Updates:
Plan and execute network and system upgrades and updates to keep infrastructure current and secure.
Disaster Recovery:
Develop and implement disaster recovery plans to ensure system resilience. Must be able configure computers, LAN and wireless Networks. Maintain servers and perform back-ups to standard Give input to design configurations and work with manufacturing functions to effectively design and select network and hardware requirements. Develop training on IT security awareness to end and key users. Support 24.7 plant operations as need be. Develop training by OPL – One-point lessons, to enable operations and support functions. ns
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficiency in network technologies and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF), network hardware (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls), and network management tools. Proficiency in server operating systems (e.g., Windows Server, Linux), virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), storage solutions, and system management tools. Highly capable with OS systems, enterprise, programming languages, and Office software Highly autonomous and a self-starter Leading change and collaborate closely with stakeholders and business leadership. Excellent communicator and formulating reporting using data. Teamwork with close collaboration with operations and engineering. High initiative and proactive approach with an entrepreneurial mindset. Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in network engineering and systems engineering, with a focus on enterprise environments. Relevant certifications in network engineering and/or systems engineering.
Working conditions:
Must be able to stand and walk up to 90% of the shift. Wear the required PPE all times while in the manufacturing area. Other personal protective equipment is required as departmental policies or job tasks dictate. Must be able to lift and position objects weighing up to 50 lbs., up to 10% of the work time.
