OverviewMcLeod Health is seeking a skilled IT Systems Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. This role is responsible for maintaining and enhancing our IT infrastructure environment, with a focus on both on-premises and cloud-based technologies. Job Responsibilities
Customer Service & Professionalism:
Maintain a professional image and exhibit excellent customer relations in accordance with McLeod’s Service Excellence Standards and Core Values. Participate in call rotation ensuring 24×7 system availability.
End User Training:
Provide training to end users on software and system functionalities to enhance productivity and system adoption.
Software Management:
Maintain the existing software distribution system, install and test software updates (including Service Packs), and manage an inventory of software and licensing.
User Collaboration:
Meet with end users to achieve goals related to the implementation and optimization of new and existing software.
Network & Server Administration:
o Administer and support server-based technologies, including Windows, VMware, Unix/Linux, Citrix, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).o Plan for growth in user base and hardware needs, ensuring scalability in both on-premises and cloud environments.o Monitor and benchmark performance and utilization of all servers, including cloud-based instances, to ensure optimal operation.
Performance Optimization:
Recommend and implement changes to improve user availability and system performance across hybrid IT environments.
Database Administration:
o Trend growth and performance of databases (e.g., SQL Server) in both on-premises and cloud-hosted environments.o Address database integrity issues and implement performance tuning.o Monitor and log database server performance using SQL utilities such as Profiler and Trace.o Implement and test Point-In-Time recoverability for databases.
Citrix Environment:
Maintain and expand the Citrix environment to support virtual desktop infrastructure and application delivery.
Disaster Recovery:
o Develop, test, and document backup and recovery procedures for on-premises and cloud-based systems.o Ensure robust disaster recovery plans are in place to minimize downtime and data loss.
Cloud Technologies:
o Manage and optimize cloud-based infrastructure, including virtual machines, storage, and networking in platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.o Implement cloud-native solutions to enhance scalability, security, and cost-efficiency.o Integrate on-premises systems with cloud environments for hybrid deployments.
Change Management & Security:
o Ensure all changes adhere to McLeod’s change control, security, and risk assessment policies.o Follow Security Policies and Procedures to safeguard systems and data.o Adhere to Server Standard Build processes to maintain system consistency and meet security standards.
Qualifications/Training
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a complex virtual server environment supporting over 800 servers running Windows, Linux, SQL Server, Citrix, and Web Servers.
- Hands-on experience with modern backup and recovery processes for both on-premises and cloud environments.
- Proficiency in Storage Area Network (SAN) equipment configuration and management.
- Expertise in Microsoft patching processes to ensure systems are up-to-date and secure.
- Strong knowledge of security processes to enhance server and cloud infrastructure security.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud), including configuration, management, and optimization of cloud resources.
- Familiarity with hybrid IT environments, integrating on-premises infrastructure with cloud solutions.
Licenses/Certifications/Registrations/Education
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Information Management, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a relevant related field.
- Relevant certifications (preferred but not required), such as:o
Microsoft Certified:
Azure Administrator Associate or AWS Certified Solutions Architect.o VMware Certified Professional (VCP).o Citrix Certified Associate – Virtualization (CCA-V).o CompTIA Security or other security-related certifications.
