Summary New Venture Research Corporation (NVRC) is a leading provider of innovative technology solutions supporting critical defense programs. We are seeking a Systems Administrator to support the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) in Panama City Beach, FL, with design, development, integration, operations, and sustainment of C5ISR systems. Tasks and Duties The Systems Administrator is responsible for maintaining and optimizing virtualized software environments supporting cutting-edge Navy technology. This role is critical in ensuring the reliable operation of systems that directly support expeditionary mission systems for the DoD. The Systems Administrator will leverage their expertise in virtualization technologies to manage and improve the performance and availability of these vital systems. This position requires a strong understanding of system administration best practices and experience working with complex, mission-critical systems. Key Responsibilities Proficiency with securing technology through implementing STIGs, patching and vendor best practice guides Experience with Nutanix products and services. Experience with Cisco UCS products and services preferred. Strong understanding of VMware components such as HA, DRS, server storage VMotion, VRealize, NSXT, and VMware Horizon View within a virtualized environment. Knowledge in conducting performance analysis for both the ESX host and their guests in the areas of CPU, Memory and I/O utilization. Experience with disaster recovery and backups for virtualization infrastructure. Strong troubleshooting skills. Experience with PowerShell and Ansible. Excellent written and oral skills. Ability to design, install, and administer VMware and Hyper V virtualization products including but not limited to: Hypervisor, SDN, Orchestration, Vsphere, ESXi, VCSA, NSX-T, vSAN, and AOS Perform regular software patching across the VMware virtualized environment. Maintain the VMware environment to ensure availability, reliability, and performance. This includes the virtual VMware environment as well as the underlying Nutanix and Cisco USC hardware components. Leverage the existing infrastructure in efforts to maintain and monitor the capacity, storage, and backups of the environment and identify opportunities of improvements. Support test events (SITs) in lab development/sustainment systems including running test suites/test cards, writing/updating/redlining existing test documentation, resolving test event trouble tickets. Ability to answer infrastructure data calls from leadership and assist in program office data calls (capacity, licensing, annual renewals for warranties/licensing) Identify opportunities for automation and implement them. Create and maintain technical procedures, operational guides and other documentation. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. Perform system maintenance including diagnostics, patching, and configuration Assist with data cabling, labeling, and hardware installations Manage Active Directory and Windows Server integration Configure and maintain security protocols Provide technical support and documentation Implement system improvements and upgrades Required Minimum Qualifications Proficiency with security configuration and security maintenance of Windows and Linux platforms Experience with Azure, Active Directory and Windows Server administration Proficiency in Linux system administration and Ansible PowerShell and Python scripting Knowledge of centralized patching solutions Experience with remote hardware diagnostics Security+ and industry certification in an applicable operating environment (Required for IAT Level II positions) Preferred Qualifications Advanced industry certifications such as: CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert), Microsoft Azure Administrator, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, CASP+ (CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner), Other CompTIA Certifications (e.g. Network+, Linux+, Cloud+, etc.), VCP-NV (VMware Certified Professional – Network Virtualization), Advanced certifications in NSX, Linux Professional Institute certifications (LPIC), and/or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) Experience with Dell EqualLogic and Isilon SANs SQL Server and IIS administration Certificate management expertise WSUS and System Center experience Strong Linux administration expertise Strong experience with Azure and Ansible integration Required Education and Length of Experience Bachelor’s degree with 2 years’ experience OR Master’s degree with 0 years’ experience and industry certifications OR 5+ years’ relevant experience supporting IT/IS systems in a DoD environment may be considered in lieu of degree with industry certification(s) Travel Requirements Travel up to 25% is required.
