Position Purpose:
Description The Network and Security Technician is responsible for daily maintenance and troubleshooting of the college’s IT infrastructure. This role is responsible for handling infrastructure-related trouble tickets, account requests, and other recurring tasks in the infrastructure and security domain, including network and server patching. The ideal candidate will have experience in a support role, an entry-level understanding of IT infrastructure management, and a desire to learn cybersecurity and cloud management The position is part of a broader team to provide continual improvement in college operations and educational systems delivery and provides a lead role in the development or implementation of new systems. This position is nonexempt. This position reports to the IT Infrastructure Manager. The starting salary for this position is $22.00/hour, depending on experience. This position starts Monday, July 7, 2025, or later. Examples of Duties Assist with regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and risk analysis. Monitor security threats and respond to incidents. Plan and lead bi-weekly tabletop security exercises within the IT team. Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity threats and best practices. Follow and update documentation of IT infrastructure, configurations, and procedures. Perform regular system updates, patches, and upgrades to ensure systems are secure and up to date. Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls. Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise. Create and support user accounts in Microsoft’s 365 and active directory. Assist troubleshooting cloud-based applications and services. Controls settings and software rollouts in support of the Helpdesk Troubleshoot and support network infrastructure, including wireless access points, routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs. Installation and termination of various types of networking/phone media. Assist the Helpdesk as needed. Other duties as assigned Other skills important to this position: Demonstrates a willingness to reach out and help others when they see a need to do so. Ability to balance priorities to accomplish assigned tasks within the required time frame and to be able to shift quickly between several tasks without loss of continuity. Have a mastery knowledge level of Microsoft Office, Windows operating systems, knowledge of networking systems, and initiative to explore new technologies in support of infrastructure environment and systems. Proven effectiveness in dealing with a wide range of professionals, faculty, students, staff, and administrators. Identify opportunities for improvement and make constructive suggestions for change. Establish and maintain effective communication & working relationships with internal and external constituents. Ability to accept supervision, assignments, change, and correction. Carry out all responsibilities and objectives in a professional manner. Ability to establish and nurture effective working relationships with associates, colleagues, students and members of the college staff. Maintain professionalism when dealing with all staff and other customers while fostering positive working relationships. Minimum Qualifications Associate degree in Information Technology or a related area AND at least one year of progressive information technology experience. Possesses an introductory understanding of WLAN, LAN, and Active Directory maintenance and configuration or any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Work Schedule:
