• The Linux/UNIX System Administrator will manage and maintain AFTAC’s Linux-based systems, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability.

This role will involve managing system resources, performing proactive system maintenance, handling troubleshooting tasks, and supporting cloud-based Linux environments. The administrator will also provide training and guidance to junior staff and assist in system migrations.

• Key Responsibilities:

• + Administer Linux/UNIX-based systems, including RedHat and Solaris, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.

+ Perform proactive space management, scalability improvements, and implement high-availability strategies. + Support system migrations, including physical-to-virtual conversions and cloud integrations. + Implement backup and disaster recovery strategies. + Troubleshoot complex system issues and perform root cause analysis to ensure system uptime. + Develop and document scripts for automation of administrative tasks. + Assist in the development of IT infrastructure replacement plans and hardware refresh cycles.

• Required Qualifications:

• + 5+ years of experience in Linux/UNIX system administration.

+ Strong knowledge of RedHat 7.x, Solaris, and other Linux variants. +

Certifications:

Security+ required, RHCSA, RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer) preferred. + Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus. + Top Secret Clearance + IAT Level 2 + Oracle (Solaris) Certified Associate and/or Red Hat Certified System Administrator
