Join our team and discover why we are a top veteran employer and Certified Great Place to Work™ ASRC Research and Technology Solutions is seeking an Information Technology (IT) professional for the role of Principal Systems Engineer- Linux in support of the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Unified Cyber Situational Awareness (UCSA) program in Pensacola, FL The Principal Systems Engineer- Linx is primarily responsible for the design, automation, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of enterprise Linux environments and infrastructure. Additionally, this individual will provide backup support to the VMware engineer, assisting in virtualization administration, troubleshooting, and maintenance. The selected candidate must demonstrate deep technical expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration, automation, security hardening, and enterprise systems engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize Linux-based servers and infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain Linux automation using Ansible, Bash scripting, or other configuration management tools.
- Manage Linux-based enterprise services, including DNS, DHCP, and authentication mechanisms (LDAP, SSSD).
- Implement security hardening measures, including applying STIGs, IAVMs, and patch management in compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies.
- Monitor system performance, optimize resources, and support capacity planning.
- Provide backup support for VMware administration, including vCenter, ESXi, and VM performance tuning.
- Utilize configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Satellite) for OS deployments and updates.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support technology refresh projects and enterprise-wide deployments.
- Maintain documentation for configurations, system changes, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Assist with incident response and forensic analysis when required.

Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in Linux Systems Engineering in an enterprise environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related field or equivalent experience.
- DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE).
- Active Secret clearance.
- Extensive experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration and automation.
- Expertise in Bash scripting and Ansible automation for system administration tasks.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, including DNS, firewalls, and security policies.
- Hands-on experience with PKI infrastructure, certificate management, and authentication solutions.
- Experience implementing and enforcing STIGs, SCAP compliance, and other DoD security mandates.
- Knowledge of Linux-based configuration management tools (e.
g., Ansible, Puppet, Satellite).
Desired Qualifications:
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or relevant VMware experience.
- Experience with Windows Systems Administration.
- Familiarity with Citrix Apps, Citrix ADC, or Citrix Hypervisor.
- Experience with cloud-based services such as Azure or AWS.
- Knowledge of advanced automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Python scripting for automation).
- Strong customer interaction skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Familiarity with SAFe Agile and Jira.
