Expected Starting Annual Range:
$71,556.54•$94,812.41 Administers multiple computer application environments using various network operating system components and client support platforms. Provides technical support of multiple operating system environments with expertise in Windows Server and relevant operating systems. Monitors, plans, installs, troubleshoots, upgrades, and maintains stable production host and client environments. Working Conditions
Typical indoor office environment. Sitting for long periods of time, working on computer. Lifting equipment or supplies up to 25 pounds alone and up to 50 pounds with assistance. Position requires visual acuity and depth perception, as well as ability to hear and identify sounds. Periodically required to work other than normal business hours. Job Description Essential Functions
These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position. Administers various aspects of network operating systems, including configuration of electronic mail systems, operating system installation and configuration, printing systems, user account management, security, and patch management, and installing third-party software. Works with servers hosting client support technologies that enable server-based client deployments, inventories, automatic updates, remote management, authentication, scripting, patch management and other centralized management activities. Works with various client software packages to help develop standards for interaction with servers in terms of procedures, configurations, and deployments. Monitors, troubleshoots, and manages a heterogeneous network of hosts and clients to maximize efficient use of resources using established or developing management systems, procedures, programs, scripts, and policies. Uses utilities to check information in assigned services. Troubleshoots complex issues and problems for servers and client/server communications. Assists with routine configuration and tuning of various monitoring systems used to check for issues with systems and helps facilitate staff usage of such systems. Assesses performance characteristics of systems and monitors them for overall health using command line interfaces and various GUI tools provided by OS vendors and third-party manufacturers. Detects and corrects issues. Escalates critical issues to appropriate County IT staff or vendor and ensures resolution. Works with department personnel to implement support vendor and internal on call and help desk support arrangements relating to the server host and client environments. Researches systems trouble calls and documents support issues. Performs systems trouble resolution following procedures in accordance with ITIL service delivery and associated processes. Escalates issues to County Information Technology staff or vendors as appropriate. Accommodates system availability issues through programming, configurations, and scheduling system activities. Inventories equipment and infrastructure for the purposes of efficient monitoring, servicing, and annual support of county server infrastructure. Creates supporting documentation, plans, and schematics. Maintains knowledge and understanding of current best practices, trends, laws, and issues affecting area of expertise. Upon arrival, attends educational events that will increase professional knowledge and be otherwise beneficial to the County. Performs other related work (including weather or other extreme emergency duties) as required. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field. Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible work experience in the support of LAN/server-based systems, hardware, software, or business applications with primary focus on information systems administration or large-scale database administration. Two (2) or more years of experience working on network operating systems. Valid driver license required, with valid Florida driver license required within 30 days of hire. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. More Linux and/or programming experience desired.

Advanced knowledge and understanding of Windows servers and other relevant operating systems appropriate for area of assignment. Advanced knowledge and understanding of standard client operating systems and supporting technologies for their automated administration. Advanced knowledge and understanding of current systems and network security functions. Advanced knowledge and understanding of archiving systems and procedures for proper protection of system resources. Advanced knowledge and understanding of Network switching including Layer 2 and 3 switches and knowledge of routers and firewalls. Advanced knowledge and understanding of TCP/IP protocols including VLANS, subnetting, spanning tree protocols, and network troubleshooting. Advanced knowledge of Active directory including user administration, Group Policies, directory security, and rights administration. Advanced ability to troubleshoot complex technical, organizational, and controversial problems and projects, and provides corrective actions. Knowledge of fiber optic networks desired. Advanced knowledge and understanding of computer applications and software programs required to perform job duties Depending on are of assignments, this could include the Office 365 applications, ArcGIS Enterprise, Power BI, and Crystal Reports. Good knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance necessary to successfully perform job responsibilities. Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills in order to interact professionally and effective with staff, management, vendors, and other stakeholders. Able to influence others regarding policies, practices, and procedures. Able to explain technical subject matter to non-technical audiences.
