Scheck Hillel is a nationally recognized college preparatory and Jewish community school located in North Miami Beach, Florida. Overview The IT System Administrator will be responsible for the configuration, maintenance, and management of the school’s IT infrastructure. This role involves ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of all network and server resources, while providing technical support to staff and students. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in system administration, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with non-technical users.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain Google Workspace and Window servers, ensuring optimal performance, security and patch compliance.
- Oversee the configuration and management of the school’s network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues related to hardware, software, networking and managed print services.
- Implement and maintain backups, disaster recovery plans, and cybersecurity strategy for data protection.
- Administer user accounts, permissions, group policies and role based access rights across various systems and applications.
- Provide IT mentoring to new staff, current staff, and students on IT systems and software applications.
- Assist with the planning and implementation of IT projects, including integrations, software upgrades and hardware installations.
- Provide administrative support for physical security, POE cameras, badge access control devices, and environmental controls.
- Maintain documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Stay current with technology trends and recommend upgrades to improve efficiency and security.
- Collaborate with other IT staff to ensure the seamless operation of all technology resources.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent experience.
- Five years of experience in system administration. An educational environment is a plus.
- Proficiency in Google Classroom/ Windows and Linux server operating systems.
- Deep knowledge of desktop operating systems and configurations (e.g., WIN11, Chrome, IOS).
- In depth knowledge of MS active directory, group policies and role based access control.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, including POE, Wifi, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Routing and VPNs.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity concepts, implementing security measures, Firewall configurations, SIEM, CISA best practices.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, Azure) and IAAS is a plus.
- Familiarity with cloud services and management (e.g., Google Workspace, Azure).
- Knowledge of backup and restore technology, procedures, SLAs and monitoring.
- Experience with Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations and a willingness to help when needed. Working Conditions

- The position may require occasional evening or weekend work.
- Ability to lift computer equipment (up to 50 lbs) for installations or upgrades.
