Role:
The IT Infrastructure Technician plays a critical role in maintaining and optimizing our organization’s IT infrastructure, while providing support to internal customers by helping them to be productive when using technology. This position requires a strong technical background, problem-solving skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to support and improve our IT services.
Key Responsibilities:
Server Infrastructure:
Design, deploy, and maintain server infrastructure, including physical and virtual servers, on-premises and in the cloud.
Backup Solutions:
Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions to safeguard data and ensure business continuity (DR/BCP).
Routine Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as updates to servers and related equipment.
Infrastructure Improvements:
Collaborate with IT teams to design and implement infrastructure improvements to support business initiatives with a “Cloud First” philosophy.
Escalation Support:
Serve as an escalation point to assist the IT Service Desk with complex issues, helping to resolve difficult problems and tasks.
Documentation:
Document server configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for reference.
Compliance:
Ensure compliance with IT policies and standards to protect data and systems from cyber threats.
Security Management:
Manage and review security logs and alerts to triage with the Information Security Team.
Network Performance:
Monitor and optimize network performance to ensure reliable connectivity.
Network Configuration:
Configure and manage network devices, including switches, routers, and firewalls.
Virtualization:
Implement and manage virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
Technical Support:
Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and IT staff.
System Audits:
Conduct regular audits of IT systems to ensure compliance and optimal performance.
Automation:
Develop and maintain scripts for automation of routine tasks.
Project Participation:
Participate in the planning and execution of IT projects.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
Proven experience as an IT Infrastructure Technician, Systems Administrator, or similar role, with a minimum of 3 years managing IT infrastructure in a corporate environment, focusing on cloud methodology (Azure, AWS, GCP, etc.). Experience with server administration (Windows Server, Linux), cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS), and familiarity with IT ticketing systems (ServiceNow preferred) and remote support tools. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related certification. Certifications such as Azure Administrator and/or AWS SysOps Administrator are a plus. Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery solutions, and understanding of key information security concepts. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on troubleshooting. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently and effectively.
