Position Overview:
Team Ignite is seeking a qualified Network and Computer Systems Administrator to support the design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of Local Area Networks (LANs), Wide Area Networks (WANs), and internet systems for the U.S. Coast Guard’s enterprise environment. The role is essential to maintaining high network availability, implementing robust security measures, and ensuring that systems operate with efficiency and continuity. This position involves performing network administration and system support duties in a client/server architecture, conducting network monitoring and troubleshooting, and participating in site surveys and field installations. The ideal candidate will have experience with infrastructure installation, network protocol configuration, and security remediation, along with the ability to create and maintain detailed system documentation in support of mission requirements. This position is pending contract award.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and maintain LANs, WANs, routers, switches, and associated network infrastructure. Monitor system performance and network availability to ensure continuous operation and minimal downtime. Conduct system and network diagnostics, perform routine maintenance, and implement patches and updates. Perform installation and configuration of networking hardware, software, and cabling infrastructure at customer sites. Participate in customer site surveys, audits, network installations, and troubleshooting efforts as needed. Use network management and monitoring tools to map and maintain network topology and asset inventory. Assist in drafting technical documentation such as network diagrams, configuration records, SOPs, and change management logs. Administer and enforce network security protocols, including firewall configurations, access controls, and vulnerability remediations. Support integration and troubleshooting of web-based applications, ensuring availability and performance across distributed systems. Interface directly with end-users, stakeholders, and other technical teams to support network and system requirements.

Journeyman Level:

Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years of hands-on experience in system administration for network protocols. Minimum of two (2) years of experience performing security remediation based on system vulnerability scans. Minimum of two (2) years of experience designing, configuring, troubleshooting, and implementing network solutions. Minimum of one (1) year working in an Agile DevSecOps software and engineering environment. Minimum of one (1) year experience using Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, or equivalent tools.
