Position Overview:
Team Ignite is seeking a mission-focused Systems Administrator to manage and maintain critical IT systems and infrastructure supporting the U.S. Coast Guard’s enterprise environment. This role requires a hands-on professional with strong experience in Linux, Windows, VMware, and SAS platforms, along with system hardening, virtualization, and automation scripting skills. The Systems Administrator will lead the configuration, deployment, and optimization of business systems and associated services, ensuring performance, security, and availability meet mission requirements. Responsibilities span routine system administration tasks, infrastructure design, vulnerability remediation, and systems documentation in support of secure, scalable, and resilient operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day configuration, performance tuning, and operation of mainframe, mini, and client/server-based systems. Conduct system capacity planning and performance analysis to optimize resource utilization. Provide support to users in accessing, navigating, and using business systems and web-based applications. Implement and maintain advanced system security measures including SELinux, secure SSH, and firewalls. Administer virtualization environments (e.g., VMware), supporting efficient workload distribution and failover mechanisms. Develop and maintain automation scripts to streamline administration tasks using configuration management tools. Design, build, and deploy application servers in RHEL and Windows environments to support evolving mission needs. Install, upgrade, and maintain Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) and Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) software systems. Configure and troubleshoot IIS and Apache web server environments. Maintain system documentation including architecture diagrams, change logs, and procedures in accordance with USCG standards. Support DevSecOps practices through Agile engineering environments with CI/CD tools and containers. This position is pending contract award.

Two (2) years with Kubernetes, Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, or equivalent. Two (2) years managing and troubleshooting IIS and Apache web applications. Two (2) years configuring and maintaining RHEL servers. Two (2) years building and deploying application servers to support business functions. Two (2) years installing and upgrading servers with

software.
Journeyman Level:
Education:
