Senior Systems Administrator Abacus I.T. Maple Shade, NJ 08052 Job Summary Abacus IT, a MSP, is seeking an experienced Senior System Engineer/Administrator to join our team. As Senior System Engineer/Administrator, you will provide the highest level of support to clients, ensuring the integrity, performance, and security of IT environments. A strong focus on networking and infrastructure security is essential, along with the ability to mentor junior staff and lead complex problem-solving efforts. Responsibilities
- Oversee escalated support from Level II technicians in a professional and timely manner relating to all technology.
- Manage all tickets and time in our PSA ConnectWise.
- Configure, manage, and troubleshoot virtualized and standalone server environments, including Microsoft Windows Server and VMware infrastructure.
- Manage and maintain WAN/LAN networks, routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points and VPNs.
- Administer and support Microsoft 365 environments, including email, user management, and endpoint security tools
- Support endpoint devices including laptops, desktops, and printers, and resolve a variety of hardware/software issues.
- Execute and support disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
- Knowledge of security best practices to safeguard the organization’s IT infrastructure and data.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, internal policies, and client-specific security and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with clients to assess current and future IT needs and recommend optimal solutions.
- Document system configurations, processes, and procedures for knowledge sharing within the team in IT Glue.
- Mentor and guide junior IT staff. Qualifications
- Minimum 7+ years’ experience in an MSP environment.
- Advanced knowledge of networking fundamentals, including hands-on experience with firewalls, managed switches, routers, wireless infrastructure, and network security best practices
- Proficient in networking principles and troubleshooting.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and organizational policies.
- Experience with cybersecurity practices, tools, and protocols, such as firewalls, SIEMs, and anti-malware solutions.
- Proficiency with VMware virtualization, remote monitoring tools, and backup/recovery products.
- Strong background in Windows Server administration, Active Directory, and Exchange Server.
- Solid understanding of cloud computing environments, including Microsoft Azure.
- Ability to work independently as well as team leader in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills with team members, customers and management
- Ability to engineer solutions for customer needs. Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Strong familiarity with our
Tech Stack:

- Certifications or experience with products from VMware, FortiGate, Microsoft, and Cisco.
- Knowledge working for an MSP with remote monitoring and management tools.
- Proven interest in growing security and compliance knowledge.
