Position Summary As a Research Foundation employee in the Advancement Information Services (AIS) department, the Information Systems Specialist has the primary duty of maintaining biographical information for SUNY Cortland alumni, parents, students, staff and friends of the college. This position is also responsible for gift processing and assisting the office with technology support.
The annual salary for this position is $36,000-$39,000 (Depending on Experience).

Major Responsibilities Maintain individual and bulk records in software systems used by Institutional Advancement
Transfer data between systems using established interfaces. Frequent manual data entry will also be required
Effectively utilize available software, internet resources (e.g. social media, LinkedIn, Google alerts) and other tools for gathering information and accurately updating records following established standards and conventions
Assist with Data Integrity monitoring through the use of queries, standardization rules, observation and analysis
Ensure record updates and system change requests are completed and documented following proper protocols
Assist with hardware and software logging, updates and training as directed by the Advancement Database Manager
Functional and Supervisory Relationships This position reports to the Advancement Database Manager
Close working relationships with the AIS team, the Cortland Fund Staff, Advancement Services, Development, Alumni Engagement and all areas of Institutional Advancement
Required Qualifications Experience using Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, Word and Teams
Ability to work evenings and weekend hours during the Cortland Challenge and possibly up to three times per year during special events (e.g. Cortland Challenge, Alumni Reunion, Cortaca)
Associate’s degree with a minimum of 1 year of experience in an office setting – or –
High School diploma or its equivalent with a minimum of 2 or more years’ experience working in an office setting
Preferred Qualifications Experience using Raiser’s Edge/NXT, Anthology or ImportOmatic
Experience working in Higher Education or not-for-profit fundraising support
Help-desk experience
Experience with hardware and software troubleshooting
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Proficiency using technology and learning new software packages. (This position requires heavy use of Microsoft Office365 and related applications— particularly Teams, Excel, Outlook and Word.)
Ability to work both independently and within a team setting
Ability to identify errors and inconsistencies in formatting, reports and data sets
Must be able to read, understand and follow written and verbal instructions and accurately document projects
Ability to learn and understand business processes and procedures
Effective time management skills
