Summary We are seeking a Systems Administrator to join our team at Ocean State Credit Union. The IT System Administrator supports the Director of Information Systems and the Network Administrator in managing the Credit Union’s IT infrastructure and security. Responsibilities include configuring, maintaining, and monitoring servers, networks, and applications to ensure reliable, secure operations. This role supports on-premise systems, implements security measures, automates tasks, and provides support for core banking platforms. The System Administrator also contributes to IT projects, maintains documentation, supports building security systems across locations, and participates in after-hours on-call and End-of-Day monitoring rotations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Install, update, upgrade, and troubleshoot hardware, hypervisors, operating systems, applications, and system software.
- Assist in developing procedures, operations, and installation documentation for systems and applications.
- Respond to emergencies outside of normal working hours, both remotely and on-site, as needed.
- Administer core banking applications and all associated interfaces used in the daily operations of the Credit Union.
- Lead assigned IT projects through planning, implementation, and support.
- Assist in the planning and development of new projects and systems, including researching and recommending new banking technologies and server/infrastructure equipment.
- Responsible for End of Day monitoring rotation, after-hours on-call duties, and alarm response.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding credit union policies, procedures, member financial data, personal information, and work-related events.
- Monitor and analyze application and hardware performance, addressing issues proactively to ensure smooth operations.
- Provide training to users on new systems, applications, and procedures as needed.
- Provide quality support and maintain professional relationships with peers, management, staff, and members through cooperation, mutual trust, and respect.
- Must be available to worknights, weekends and/or holidays as business needs arise.
- Demonstrate compliance with all required department trainings.
- Travel to different branch locations as necessary.
- Perform related and unrelated duties as may be required. Desired Skills and/or Qualifications
- Experience in network implementation/troubleshooting/configuration, including IPSec, VLANs, VPNs, DHCP, WiFi
- FortiGate firewall configuration and management experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Exchange / Office 365 email configuration and usage
- Basic understanding of scripting languages such as Powershell
- Knowledge of Mitel VoIP systems
- Experience with Windows Server and Active Directory (including GPO, DNS, and file/print services)
- Virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) management experience
- Working knowledge of backup software (e.g., Veeam, Windows Backup, or similar)
- Fiserv DNA experience a plus
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of a high school diploma with technology-related training or certifications
- 4+ years of experience in a technical role
- Banking or Credit Union related operations experience
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
The role requires extended periods of sitting or standing at a desk in an open office environment. Frequent use of computers and telephones is necessary, with occasional lifting and carrying of equipment. Travel between branches may be required. $70,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
