Job Description

Senior System Administrator provides technical oversight as well as hands-on support of HW/SW systems. Duties may include, but are not limited to, implementing and maintaining system security and data recovery processes, providing technical support, utilizing automation tools for delivering applications, managing assets, monitoring performance, event notifications and automating workstation support. In addition to the technical knowledge and skills, a SA must exhibit excellent communication skills. Often working in a team environment with clients and other IT personnel, systems administrator must coordinate and communicate activities, status updates, outage notifications and schedule information.

  • Responsibilities
  • + Design, implement, and manage complex IT infrastructure solutions, including on-premises, virtualized, and cloud environments.

+ Serve as the technical lead for major system upgrades, migrations, and integration projects, ensuring minimal disruption to operations. + Oversee advanced troubleshooting and resolution of escalated system, network, and security incidents. + Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools to streamline routine administration tasks and improve operational efficiency. + Ensure compliance with organizational security policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., NIST, HIPAA, DoD). + Mentor and provide guidance to junior administrators and IT support staff, fostering professional development and knowledge sharing. + Plan and test disaster recovery and business continuity strategies, performing regular backups and system restores. + Conduct capacity planning and performance tuning to optimize infrastructure resources and support organizational growth. + Review and approve system architecture changes, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and best practices. + Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and other core enterprise services at an advanced level. + Lead vulnerability assessments, risk analysis, and remediation efforts to enhance system security and resilience. + Develop and maintain comprehensive system documentation, including network diagrams, configuration standards, and recovery procedures. + Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and practices to continuously improve IT infrastructure. + Coordinate with cross-functional teams, vendors, and stakeholders to deliver high-impact IT projects on time and within budget.

  • Qualifications
  • + Minimum 5 years of experience as hands-on support of HW/SW systems. + Associate degree in a computer related field, _or_ equivalent technical certification.
  • Certification:
  • + IAT Level II ONE of the following: + GSEC, CompTIA Security+, SCNP, _or_ SSCP. + Active SECRET Clearance. + Comprehensive experience in deploying Windows Server patches / STIG’s. + Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) is highly preferred.
