Job Description
System Administrator II $65,000 – $85,000 Spartanburg, SC As a Tier 2 Systems Administrator, you’ll be the go-to expert for resolving intricate technical issues and maintaining robust IT infrastructure. You’ll leverage your deep understanding of networking, server administration, and security to provide top-tier support and contribute to our clients’ success.
What You’ll Do:
Network Mastery:
Troubleshoot and maintain complex network infrastructures, including physical cabling and advanced switch configurations (managed, unmanaged, Layer 2/3). Configure and manage DHCP and DNS across various platforms (Windows Server, Fortigate, Cisco, Meraki). Utilize Fortinet OS, Meraki, and Unifi controllers for network management, troubleshooting, and security. Diagnose and resolve network faults efficiently and create detailed work instructions.
Server Expertise:
Administer and troubleshoot Windows Server environments, including domains, Hyper-V, and Azure servers. Manage server backups (Altaro), file sharing, drive mapping, and server/client relationships. Configure and deploy UPS (PowerChute) and NAS devices. Install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows virtual server environments. Manage storage technologies such as RAID configurations, SAN, NAS, and data backup strategies. Implement backup solutions and disaster recovery procedures. Utilize PowerShell and scripting to automate tasks and enhance efficiency.
Security Champion:
Install, configure, and troubleshoot security software (ESET, Cisco Umbrella, Sentinel One). Analyze and mitigate spam emails and perform virus cleanups. Implement and manage security best practices.
Service Excellence:
Utilize the Ninja One platform to manage and monitor client devices. Provide advanced Microsoft service support and collaborate with vendor support. Coordinate with software vendors and manage service reviews. Participate in on-call rotations to ensure 24/7 support.
Advanced Server Management:
Add/Remove roles from Windows Server. Install and manage enterprise software in a server environment. Assist with complex server environments and projects. Perform intermediate server engineering tasks.
What You Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience. Proven experience in Tier 2 systems administration. Strong understanding of networking, server administration, and security principles. Proficiency in Office 365 administration. Expertise in Windows Server, Hyper-V, and Azure environments. Experience with storage technologies (RAID, SAN, NAS). Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Certifications:
Two or more of the following: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, Microsoft 365
Certified:
Fundamentals (MS-900),
Microsoft Certified:
Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals (SC-900),
Microsoft Certified:
