Duties The Network Technician’s role is to assist upper level staff in the assurance of maintaining the stability and integrity of all Health System data communication. This includes voice, video, wireless and network services. In addition, the Network Technician will participate with the installation, monitoring, maintenance and support of all network hardware, software and communication links. Primary Responsibilities Collaborate with leadership to assess near and long term network capacity needs Help replace legacy network equipment Make jumps in Communications Equipment Room as assigned Installs, tests, certifies and troubleshoots campus and remote-campus network cable infrastructure Help manage and maintain existing Network and peripherals Work Add moves and change work queue Help configure Cisco equipment Work after hours on-call 24×7 support, rotate weekly Other tasks as assigned Ensure network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, and other network appliances Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports Participate in managing all network security solutions Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team Qualifications Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Good Interpersonal skills Learn and apply new technical knowledge quickly Good communication skills Preferred CCNA
- Ent Familiar with network design Experience working in a hospital environment Experience with basic hand tools Basic troubleshooting skills.
The ability to think logically and methodically arrive at a sound solution Knowledge of structure wiring. Ability to make CAT 5 Ethernet Data cable Ability to accurately follow detailed written or verbal instructions Ability to be first response on automatic alerts and have knowledge of level 1 call support on Helpdesk problem requests Special Requirements Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting heavy requipment (up to 50 lbs. unassisted) climbing, walking. Must be able to tolerate confined spaces.
