MAJOR FUNCTIONS

Responsible for work in maintaining desktop computer software, repairing and maintaining computer and camera networks. Work location will be at the Bay County Sheriff’s Office Jail Facility, 5700 Star Lane, Panama City, Florida. Work is performed under the Director of Information Systems. The entry level salary is $58,385.

ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES

PC hardware maintenance and repair (desktop and notebook computers). Software installation and support. Printer maintenance and support. Provide user support for software and internet applications. Assists the Network Manager with infrastructure upgrades and perform other duties as assigned. Work will be done through service desk requests.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of one year of experience in technical support, desktop support, or network troubleshooting in a professional environment. Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving Windows operating system errors and software-related issues. Experience troubleshooting hardware and peripheral devices including desktops, laptops, printers, and network equipment. Solid understanding of basic networking principles, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and LAN/WAN environments. Ability to identify and resolve network connectivity problems, including wired and wireless configurations. Familiarity with Active Directory and user account management. Basic knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and maintaining system integrity. Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical issues to non-technical users. Ability to follow detailed procedures and documentation related to system setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs and work on ladders.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED required. Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred. Experience may be substituted for education requirement.
