Full Job Description Summary:

The Technology Support Field Representative will perform technical assistance in the installation of software, networks, and computer equipment and serves as a technical resource for all district/school staff and personnel.

DISTRICT EXPECTATIONS

Responsibilities:

Provides field level technical support. Provides professional customer service consultation. Sets up and installs client workstations to network file servers, the internet, or computer system; installs new computers, monitors, printers, scanners, and peripherals. Schedules site visits to perform minor maintenance on computers and printers; diagnoses, tracks, and troubleshoots hardware and software problems through diagnostic testing; initiates problem solving methods where necessary. Evaluates existing hardware; develops and prepares needs analysis documents for district departmental clients to purchase hardware/software efficiently for administrative technology plans. Implements any technology related project affecting the client workstations at the district or learning community level. Installs, upgrades, and configures new software, as well as network and device drivers for new or existing computers; tracks and inventories software. Helps to maintain site based networks, computer labs, and may install and maintain servers. Is responsible for maintaining knowledge of department procedures and policies. Maintains currency of knowledge in district technical standards, offerings, equipment, and applications. Participates actively in meetings and training sessions as required. Communicates customer issues and feedback to appropriate individuals using established communication channels. Promotes cooperation among team members to achieve ongoing performance improvement in support of organizational goals. Achieves and maintains departmental standards in both quality and productivity metrics. Performs any other duties as assigned. Experience:

Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in computer operations or troubleshooting experience required. An associate’s degree supplemented by four (4) years of computer operations or troubleshooting work experience may substitute for the bachelor’s degree and work experience requirement. Two (2) years of technical training in an acceptably related field from an institution above the high school level supplemented by four (4) years of computer operation or troubleshooting work experience may substitute for the bachelor’s degree and work experience. Six (6) years of computer operations or troubleshooting work experience may substitute for the bachelor’s degree and work experience requirement.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations:

Possession of a valid Florida driver’s license is required and must conform to the districts Safe Driver Plan.

Language Skills:

Reads and interprets documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals. Writes routine reports and correspondence. Speaks effectively before groups of individuals.

Mathematical Skills:

Calculates figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Applies concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Applies common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Deals with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

Knowledge of relevant and current computer software programs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical Activities:

Standing, walking, sitting, bending, stooping, crawling, handling, keyboarding, talking, and hearing.

Lifting Demands:

Up to 70 pounds; Over 70 pounds (must be 2 person or assisted lift)

Reaching Activities:

Both dominant and non-dominant hand; overhead.
