Job Description

Technology Support Specialist Rowlett Middle Academy 400 30th Avenue West, Bradenton, FL 34205 Job Overview Rowlett Middle is seeking a dedicated on-site Technology Support Specialist to ensure seamless technology integration for staff and students. This person is responsible for supporting the operation and maintenance of hardware and software systems, including the Apple ecosystem, the Google Workspace, PCs, technology labs, additional IP-based systems, and subscription services. The position requires knowledge of MacOS, iOS, and Windows. This person will work with the network managed services provider to support the Local Area Network (LAN). The role requires excellent customer service skills, good communication and problem-solving skills, detailed documentation skills, and the ability to provide quick turnaround for staff and student requests. The ultimate goal is to have technology work seamlessly for both staff and students. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the 1:1 iPad program (device setup, distribution, maintenance, collection) and management of the Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution
  • Assist with digital curriculum resources and Google Workspace for Education.
  • Assist staff with technical support (mail clients, credentials, file management, cloud, applications, updates, etc.).
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot hardware and software for Apple and Windows devices and peripherals such as printers, A/V components, streaming devices, cameras, scanners, phones, alarm systems, etc.
  • Monitor and manage the in-house email ticket system that tracks help-desk requests. Escalate issues to the external managed services provider’s ticket system when needed.
  • Maintain licensing inventory for all software, keep subscriptions and accounts current.
  • Maintain and manage equipment inventories and the repair/replacement cycle.
  • Develop and maintain technology policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the contracted managed services provider, the Technology Support Specialist at the elementary campus, outside vendors, and Apple support.
  • Participate in the preparation of the technology budget and the eRate application.
  • Support creative and independent use of instructional technology throughout the school.
  • Work with staff to ensure network security and data privacy policy compliance.
  • Stay current on new technologies that may benefit the school.
  • Participate in relevant professional development sessions and staff meetings.
  • Demonstrate initiative in the job role and respect the confidential nature of the position, related data, and general workplace matters.
  • Demonstrate professional, polite, and tactful communication skills with all members of the Rowlett community and outside community members. Represent Rowlett positively and professionally.

  • Willingly perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field ()
  • Strong knowledge of MacOS and iOS; iPad, Mac, Apple TV management and troubleshooting
  • Experience with MDM solutions (like Jamf, Mosyle, or Apple School Manager)
  • 2+ years of experience managing Apple devices in an educational environment
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace for Education/Google Suite
  • Understanding of network infrastructure and wireless technologies
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to train and support users with varying levels of technical proficiency
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Passion for education and technology integration in learning Preferred Qualifications
  • Apple Certified Technical Coordinator (ACTC) or similar certification
  • Experience working in K-12 education settings
  • Familiarity with educational technology applications and resources
  • Knowledge of educational technology trends and best practices Working Conditions

  • Some physical requirements, including the ability to lift and transport equipment Terms of Employment Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the school’s approved compensation plan.

Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be established by the school. Evaluation Performance of this job will be evaluated per the provisions of the Board’s policy for personnel evaluation.

Compensation and benefits:
  • 10-month employee (August-May)
  • Pay Range commensurate with skill and experience
