Position Description The Technology Specialist’s overall function is to maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments. The Technology Specialist diagnoses, troubleshoots, and resolves problems with systems and hardware and supports and manages student, teacher, and staff devices. The Technology Specialist manages the active directory of users and email system, in compliance with school policy. This position reports to the Director of Technology.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Evaluate the performance of hardware and software and make recommendations for improvement as applicable. Troubleshooting WAN and LAN issues including WiFi, Internet Circuits, VPN, Firewall, Routers and manages switches. Install and maintain Cisco network hardware and software. Work with support vendors for installation and maintenance of systems. Install, maintain and support software applications used at the schools, including email system, Infinite Campus, School website, Google Admin and other applications Configure and maintain teacher, staff, and student user devices onsite and remotely. Maintain user directory, add and delete user IDs, reset passwords on the network and server to ensure access to resources according to school policy. Create, update and deploy images on student, staff, and classroom computers. Develop and follow procedures for tracking devices in the technology work area and out for repair. Work with team to establish and maintain effective inventory tracking procedures for Drew Devices. Support user devices and software. Respond to support requests timely. Maintain user directory, add and delete user IDs, reset passwords on the network and server to ensure access to resources according to school policy. Maintain email accounts and account groups, Echo accounts, and Google accounts and ensure users have access. Support audiovisual devices and issues reported by teachers and staff personnel Maintain Smartboards and coordinate vendor repair and maintenance. Maintain software on the digital signage outside and inside the school. Create and deploy signage content as requested. Support printers and printer supplies for users according to School policy. Ensure proper operation and maintenance of audiovisual equipment in meeting and conference rooms and collaboration areas Maintain and configure Cisco VOIP devices, switches, and APs. Maintains a strong working knowledge of assigned (instructional) software to provide problem diagnostics and accurate troubleshooting for timely solutions Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in computer science or six years of related fieldwork experience. Work Experience A minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated relevant experience required; Relevant experience can include providing end-user support in an enterprise-level organization, administering a Windows or Mac computing environment, or working with WAN/LAN environments Experience evaluating the performance of hardware and software, network architecture, multiple hardware platforms. Experience maintaining and supporting institutional or commercial users, networks and devices. Experience working with users and devices using remote and onsite tools in providing technical support. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Basic understanding of technology hardware, including desktop computers, laptops, tablets, smartphones, printers, projectors, smart boards, scanners, and digital cameras; Knowledge of one or more operating systems, such as Microsoft, Mac, or Linux; Familiarity with IT support tools, such as Active Directory, Google or Zendesk; Working knowledge of PC/LAN application software including MS Office products and Internet Browsers (Internet Edge, Chrome, Safari, etc); Must be able to successfully manage multiple tasks, projects, and responsibilities; Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a particular focus on clearly articulating IT incidents and their solutions so that both end-users and technical support staff understand what is being communicated; Ability to apply critical thinking skills in rendering solutions to various technical issues; Ability to assist users via phone or remotely when needed. Ability to independently learn new technology and provide instruction to others; Must be able to collaborate effectively with district and school personnel, the general public, and work with diverse groups of people
