Jefferson vacancies in various Departments as they occur. Kind of Work The purpose of this position is to coordinate the operations of a multi-user computer system and maintain the integrity of departmental databases. For the current vacancy in the Building Permits Department, the employee prepares and sends information to designated areas via existing computer programs. Troubleshoots and solves problems with any programs, computers, and printers used within assigned area. Provides training and operational assistance for personal computers (Laptops, Surface Pros), software, networks, and various related peripherals. Identifies problems and does basic troubleshooting procedures on a variety of equipment including mini computers (Surface Pros), PCs (Laptops), printers, scanners, iPhones, etc. as approved by Supervisor. The employee repairs and replaces equipment or prepares equipment for repair or return. Maintains and installs equipment and PCs for the department. Backs up software and data for department users as necessary using Laptops, Surface Pro’s, etc. Troubleshoots, reconfigures, and updates iPhones for use with Inspectors. Loads and configures new software and hardware as well as replaces hardware and peripherals as needed. Performs related administrative duties in support of the assigned area. Position requires driving of a personal vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and personal automobile with minimum liability insurance available for business use (business travel is reimbursed on a mileage basis) will be given preference. Minimum Qualifications For Admission to Examination Meets one of the following three options: I. Current employment and permanent civil service, PLUS , substantial, paid work experience (approx. two years) assisting with computer systems troubleshooting or the coordination of technical support services. OR II. Possession of an accredited Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a closely related field; PLUS , significant, paid work experience (approx. one year) assisting with computer systems troubleshooting or the coordination of technical support services. OR III. Successful completion of at least twelve (12) credit hours of Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or closely related coursework from an accredited college or university; PLUS , substantial, paid work experience (approx. two years) assisting with computer systems troubleshooting or the coordination of technical support services. OR IV. Possession of a high school diploma (or equivalent); PLUS , considerable, paid work experience (approx. three years) assisting with computer systems troubleshooting or the coordination of technical support services. Related education, experience, and/or professional certification(s) above and beyond the minimum qualifications will be required for consideration of an entrance salary above the minimum rate.
